1 Another Synthetic Track planned for Victoria on Thu Jun 02, 2011 1:14 pm

Got to hand it to Victorian city & shire councils, when it comes to providing a synthetic athletic track in their municipality, they're very keen to support any intitative to create one.

Sport centre plan

MOORABOOL Council’s draft plan to make Masons Lane Recreation Reserve a major junior sporting precinct has been unveiled.

The reserve is one of the main outdoor sporting facilities in Bacchus Marsh for baseball, cricket, athletics, dog obedience, soccer and cricket.

The council has prepared a draft master plan to seek grants for the reserve’s development over the next three to five years.

The plan includes four key directions - a new multipurpose centre; additional sportsgrounds; multipurpose synthetic sports centres; and vehicle and pedestrian management.

The multipurpose facility will provide change amenities and community space, while the additional sportsgrounds will help cater for future demand in the shire.

Multipurpose synthetic sports facilities will accommodate soccer, cricket and sports training, and a synthetic athletics track will aid junior to elite participants.

Other recommendations include upgrading and installing play equipment, installing an active lifestyle fitness circuit and shade/shelter for all sportsgrounds.

Members of the public are invited to make a submission and give feedback to the council regarding the draft plan until June 7.

Submissions should be typed and addressed to the Recreation Development Officer, Moorabool Shire Council, PO Box 18, Ballan, 3342.

They can also be emailed to Go to for a copy of the plan.
