Men's 100m
1 BOLT Usain JAM 9.91 Reaction Time 0.174
2 POWELL Asafa JAM 9.93 SB RT 0.133
3 LEMAITRE Christophe FRA 10.00 SB RT 0.129
4 COLLINS Kim SKN 10.12 SB RT 0.216
5 THOMPSON Richard TRI 10.13 RT 0.151
6 EDWARDS Rae Monzavous USA 10.20 RT 0.151
7 FORSYTHE Mario JAM 10.21 RT 0.178
8 CLARKE Lerone JAM 10.31 SB RT 0.176
9 SAMUELS J-Mee USA 10.40 RT 0.150
Good start by Powell & LeMaitre and an ordinary start from Bolt saw Powell lead early from LeMaitre. Powell looked like he had a big enough lead at the 80m but Bolt was determined to start the season with a win and took Powell on the line to win by about 30cm. Disappointing for Powell because this was always going to be his best chance to beat Bolt. With the confidence gained from this run, Bolt will have Powell's measure for the remainder of the season. Brilliant run by LeMaitre to finish less than a metre from the big two. And despite a slow start, Collins ran superbly to finish 4th.

Men's 200m
1 HOWE Andrew ITA 20.31
2 ANDERSON Marvin JAM 20.49
3 SORRILLO Rondel TRI 20.68
4 CRAWFORD Shawn USA 20.82
5 MALCOLM Christian GBR 20.95
6 CALLENDER Emmanuel TRI 20.99
7 PESSONNEAUX Pierre Alexis FRA 21.01
8 HESSION Paul IRL 21.06
9 BAPTISTE Leon GBR 21.16
Surprise of the night, with Howe smashing them off the bend. Seemed to get a lift from the 47,000 Italians in the stands roaring him home. It wasn't a Diamond League event so a few of the big guns were missing. Disappointing runs from Crawford & Malcolm, finishing well behind. They might be in their 30's now, but unlike another 'vet' Kim Collins who fired up in the 100m, they didn't run anywhere near well enough to guarantee themselves starts in future Diamond League 200's.

Women's 200m
1 KNIGHT Bianca USA 22.64 SB
2 STEWART Kerron JAM 22.74
3 FERGUSON-MCKENZIE Debbie BAH 22.76
4 FELIX Allyson USA 22.81
5 RICHARDS-ROSS Sanya USA 22.88 SB
6 WILLIAMS Charonda USA 23.20
7 MOORE Lashauntea USA 23.26
8 FEDORIVA Aleksandra RUS 23.26
9 MOORE Consuella USA 23.54
Good run from Knight, again like Howe in the men's race, seemed to come off the bend much better than the rest. Stewart will be better for the run. Felix ran the 400m only 45mins before the 200m so would not have been fresh. Lashauntea Moore was disappointing, only running 23.26, after a good win at the Doha DL (22.83).

Men's 400m
1 BROWN Christopher BAH 45.16 SB
2 GONZALES Jermaine JAM 45.43 SB
3 BORLÉE Jonathan BEL 45.53
4 NIXON Greg USA 45.62
5 QUOW Renny TRI 45.83
6 NEVILLE David USA 45.94
7 VISTALLI Marco Francesco ITA 46.02
8 ROONEY Martyn GBR 46.12
9 TORRANCE Jamaal USA 46.22 SB
Not a DL event, but still a good race with the consistent Brown running solidly to the line to record a good win. Borlee looked a real danger at the 300m mark but tired in the straight. Gonzales finished further behind Brown than he did in Kingston on 7th May (45.37 to 45.52) and looks a fair way off his 44.40 PB shape. David Neville is struggling now since he's very good runs in Australia & Doha. Last three starts he's run 45.12, 45.58 and now 45.94. Rooney looked like he badly needed the run.

Women's 400m
1 FELIX Allyson USA 49.81 WL
2 MONTSHO Amantle BOT 50.47
3 MCCORORY Francena USA 50.70
4 DUNN Debbie USA 50.79
5 RICHARDS-ROSS Sanya USA 50.98 SB
6 SHAKES-DRAYTON Perri GBR 51.47 PB
7 WILLIAMS Shericka JAM 51.53
8 MILANI Marta ITA 52.75
9 GRENOT Libania ITA 53.50
Brilliant run by Felix. Probably the class run of the night. Montsho got close enough at Doha to suggest she could be a chance in Rome. But Felix spaced her off the bend and ran going away by 5m. Fair gap between Felix and the rest at the moment. This event needs Richards-Ross to get back to sub 50sec shape, to give Felix a contest.

Men's 800m
1 ROBINSON Khadevis USA 1:45.09 SB
2 MULAUDZI Mbulaeni RSA 1:45.50
3 AL AZEMI Mohammed Khalaf KUW 1:45.52
4 KIPROP Asbel KEN 1:46.02
5 LALANG Boaz Kiplagat KEN 1:46.10
6 MUTUA David Mutinda KEN 1:46.64
7 KIPLAGAT Richard KEN 1:46.88
8 SOLOMON Duane USA 1:47.27
9 REINA Antonio Manuel ESP 1:47.43
10 RIMMER Michael GBR 1:47.68
11 YEGO Alfred Kirwa KEN 1:48.73
DNF TANGUI Sammy KEN DNF
A strange race where interference on the first bend cost Kiprop and a couple of others any chance. Mind you I felt Kiprop ran a tactically ordinary race. Well executed race by Robinson, who dropped out to avoid any contact then stormed around the field to catch them napping. Besides Kiprop, Rimmer & Yego were disappointing; they might have copped some contact but they struggled to the line and never looked threatening. Mulaudzi's first run was promising & solid. HOWEVER - Rudisha would have slept well knowing none of these guys will cause him any concern.

Women's 1500m
1 JAMAL Maryam Yusuf BRN 4:01.60 WL
2 ASSEFA Meskerem ETH 4:02.12 PB
3 BURKA Gelete ETH 4:03.28

DNF GEZAHEGNE Kalkidan ETH
DNF LUCHKINA Anna RUS
DNF TVERDOSTUP Tamara UKR
Rome was a step up in class from Doha where Mishchenko won comfortable in 4-03. Jamal had them covered all the way and despite the PB shape of Assefa, Jamal won easily in a world leading time.

First decent 5k race of the year and the class came out at Rome. Outstanding quality with the first 6 runners breaking 13mins. The ever consistent Merga dominated the race. Always handy in 3rd or 4th throughout and once he took over the lead, was never really threatened. Great run by the 18 year old Koech in 2nd place.
