1940 Stawell Gift won by A J Reid from Port Augusta SA. Reid was the last SA athlete to win the Stawell Gift before Steve Hutton won in 1996.

Reid says at the end: "I'm glad I won for myself, my trainer and South Australia."

1st A J Reid (8½ yds)
2nd J T Smith (9 yds)
3rd R H Spargo (8 yds)
4th J J Hawkins (11½ yds)
5th R Northeast (10½ yds)
Time: 12 3/16 secs.

1946 Stawell Gift - the first post war, won by Tommy Deane who was trained by the 1933 Stawell Gift winner - Goldie Heath.

1st T Deane (7 yds)
2nd E J Cumming (6¾ yds)
3rd J G Baird (6½ yds)
4th R McInnes (4½ yds)
5th E V Brown (7 yds)
Time: 11 14/16 secs.

ALSO the 1963 Stawell Gift won by John Bell.
