DUAL world 400m hurdles champion Jana Pittman has confirmed her marriage to former British Olympic hurdler Chris Rawlinson has broken down for a second time.

Pittman returned from England with their four-year-old son Cornelis in late January and began training with coach Phil King, who took her to her first world title in 2003. However, she would not comment on the state of her marriage until last night.

"I have had a very turbulent last five years that I have found incredibly draining," Pittman said in a statement. "I really respect and appreciate Chris's contribution to my athletic career and of course as a father to our son Cornelis.

"I am spending all my energies concentrating on athletics and being a good mother to Cor. I hope people will respect my privacy through these trying times."

Pittman and Rawlinson became a couple in 2003 and married just after Pittman's Melbourne Commonwealth Games triumph in 2006. Their son was born later that year.

Rawlinson coached his wife to her second world title in 2007, but their relationship has always been tempestuous. They split for the first time in 2009, but reconciled last year when Pittman relocated to England to make the marriage work.

Pittman, 28, has been training well in Melbourne since mid-February and made her return to the track after almost two years of constant injury at the Australian Athletics Tour Final in Perth two weeks ago, where she defeated current national champion Lauren Boden in a solid time of 55.75sec.

However, she withdrew from this weekend's national titles as a precautionary measure after feeling calf soreness in training this week.
