Noble Park Gift Wrap
EZARD WINS SHEFFIELD DISTANCE
On Sunday 27th of February the Noble Park football club (Athletics
Division) held the 11th annual running of the now city of Dandenong
Noble Park gift held at the Noble Park reserve.

The day started with the heats of the 70m open Hcp. A keenly
contested final taken out by Glen Ross 2nd was the back marker
Robert Vidler and the ever consistent Cam Dunbar a close third.
At last it is good to see big numbers of young participants
running at local and country meetings. Congratulations to Luke
Anthony winning his first 100 metre with the pros. Melissa Howard
got the chocolates in the Women’s Gift along with the ever green
Shane Ezard greeting the judge in noble parks Sheffield gift with
Glen Ross ,Cameron Yorke filling the minor placings.

The ever popular Shane Buckingham won with something in hand
by taking the cash and sash home in the 300 women’s/vets race.
One of the easiest wins of the day went to Rhys Parkinson winning
the 400m sportzbiz novice final with Chris Hargraves and Mitchell
Palmer filling the minors.

Wayne Dalziel comfortably won Noble Parks 550 Hcp along with
Josh Mather Jimmy Deane filling the trifecta placings.

Sean Quilty
affectionately known around the traps as Doona went back to back
wins by greeting the judge in the women's/vets Hcp and last week
at Keilor beating them all in Keilor’s frontmarkers mile. Doona is
sure to salute the judge again before our season finishes.

Lauren Crowe trained by Mark Hipworth streeted her rivals in the
1600 novice event, Rilyn Mosbey and Luke Wilke tried hard but
were no match for the winner. Congratulations Lauren on your first
pro win there’s more to come young lady. Darcy Hubbard running in
the blue jacket took out the 120m RACV young guns Hcp, Jack
Lewis running a good second and young Ellie Maguire running into
third place.

One of the last and feature events on the day was the invitation non
penalty 2000 metre classic. With a near capacity field of 23 proven
in form performers racing for the cash, sash and crystal vase trophy
donated by the great Brian Marantelli our backmarker being Brady
Threlfall from Bendigo running from the honour mark and the limit
marker Craig Harris 175metres. The classic was a great spectacle
with good hard, tight running giving all fit participants a chance of
winning the event. Experience and a class act in Matthew
Mcdonough collecting first prize close up was the ever consistent
Mark Andrews and Ian Burrows finishing third.

I must also mention Noble Park little athletic events supervised by
the Tassie devil. These events run over the sprint and around the
bend. Capacity fields participated and keenly contested. To see the
excitement in the kid's faces was a plus to Noble Park and Grant
Penny’s credit, well done guys.

Finally credit must be given to our VAL officials and noble park
committee in the successful running of the carnival. Congratulations
to Brian Morgan and Bob Woodbridge for their 33yrs contribution to
the pro’s recognized by the Noble Park committee.
