Anyone with opinoins as to who should have got athlete of the meet.
Sam Osmond won it.
Maybe Ali Salui for his 300m time.
PHyde dominating win in the 1000m
ARobb third win in 120m womens plus third in the 300.
Personally I think the judges got it wrong.

Curious, I agree that there were many contenders for the athlete of the meet, especially Amy Robb. I am pretty sure Sam Osmond won it because he got back to back 300m U17 wins, which is impressive in it's own right. I also think that because Lucy Buckley won it last year that they wanted to credit someone for something else. I personally think that the athlete of the meet is easily won for a female because of the chance of doing the double. All the open athletes don't have this opportunity because of not being able to run both finals.

Great meet at Loxton with alot of work done by all, but I have to ask will it continue with its current prize money. The 120m open while the semi's were good and I'm sure the final exciting, the heats have to be a concern. Heat 5 with 3 runners and heat 6 with only 2, the program showed 36 competitors with 15 scratching leaving only a total of 21 runners with a call for more with 24 entered with the hope of getting 30. Will or should the limit change so more runners compete, will the entry fee change with a lower prize pool?

Speaking to Dennis Hahn, it was interesting to find out that it was one of the few times some of the Nippys owners attended the gift...Dennis said it was a good opportunity for them to see where their money was going etc (along with other sponsors).

While some of the heats were a little low on numbers, the semi finals were founded to be exciting and enjoyable to watch by the sponsors - all 3. Add that to the cracking final, thats 4 good races for the community to watch. I personally think, from some of the local comments, the circle events were more enjoyable to watch (possibly because of local participants). However, all in all the sponsors were apparently quite happy with the racing - especially later on in the evening. It seems Dennis and the others really want this meet to continue! I obviously slightly bias, coming from loxton, find it to be one of the most enjoyable meets on the calendar even if I can't win there ever!

Athletes who do attend this meet, normally enjoy it. The track was great, the crowd was great, the calcutta was great, great organisation, and while the mosquitoes sucked, I would say the whole event was pretty successful!

I will certainly continue to sponsor the U 17's 300m race there, to try and promote 'more' talented local highschool athletes to attend in the future years.

I hope the event continues, and next season we can get increased number of entries!

good to hear Nitta, was exciting apart from the heats (120m open), the crowd got really involved and good the sponsors are happy. For those competing next year we drove back after and it took only 2hours 20min so its not that far if you dont wont to stay the night, so go to this meet!

Well said Nitta - good to hear a local's perspective.

Calcutta was apparently a record with over $2600 in the pool from only 6 heats. And another $1200 for the women's three 120m heats. 97 people there for the dinner and I hear there was some serious bidding after the punters got fired up by the 'comprehensive' form guide. Wink ...... and of course Terry McAuliffe's sensational auctioneering during the night.

Great crowd on Saturday night. Enormous amount of work goes into this meet and let's hope it continues for many years yet.

Thanks, Loxton.

My first Loxton Gift Carnival was fun and it was exremely satisfying to win the over35s 300m.

Maybe it was the mossies, maybe the crowd, maybe the track, maybe the warm humidity, maybe all the training ... somehow I ran the fastest 300m of my life, almost two seconds faster than my winning time at Reynella back in November where I ran 2 metres less. I reckon the handicapper might notice and that next time I will have to run even further.

After my race, in the final of the open 300m, Ali Saliu ran fast around the middle of the bend close by where I was sitting recovering - unforgettable - Ali looked amazing, strong as and at least 12 feet tall, charging on to win by a big margin.

And the drive back in the BlueCar was as smooth as an SAAL sash.

Thanks, Loxton.

Stokesy!!!!

There is no one who cheers harder then me when you coming racing around the bend, or when you give the double fisted salute to the crowd after winning one of your heats. Maybe your just dizzy from the mozzie bites, maybe your just high from your win, MAYBE your just aroused by Ali Saliu.

Maybe we could catch up for a coffee?

Now that you have won a couple of sashes Brett, you are far more happier than the miserable old sole that started running Pros a couple of years back.
Maybe you have a better understanding of what Pros are all about.
