not a good weekend for the handicapper

winner of frontmarkers 1600 season lift 60m
second "ditto" 40m
third "ditto" 50m
fourth "ditto" 15m
fifth my boy adam parker zero
and most of these lifts when they have finished 20s behind the winners

how and why does this happen??

I believe the winner of the 3200m was fined $2000.

First prize was $750. That's one very expensive Stawell sash.

The winner of the Frontmarkers 1600m was also fined. $300?

Yep, the handicappers had a tough weekend.

Jknott I hear your frustration, but do you have a solution? I presume there was a fair proportion of athletes who were handicapped well? Looking at some of the shorter distances half the final in the vets 100 didn't even go close to getting out of heats at Euroa. I also mentioned in a pre Ringwood post that Will Little had walked his 550 heat at Euroa. Well that earned him a 2m lift for Stawell and he duly found 4.5 secs to make the final!! 50.9 in Women's 4 was much quicker than ceiling. The 3200 result is laughable given DizzyRunner I mean Alex outed a runner on this site a month ago for running a quick 3km time.

Other than appointing a full time handicapper to analyse the results or putting gps/ heart rate monitors on runners I am not sure what the solution is. There will always be athletes beating the system, but some just take the piss!

the solution is simple the handicapper must stick to the guidelines i believe any time in the 1600m outside of 11s is deemed a nap? and a nap doesnt count for a tick can somebody please clarify this as i may be completely wrong.as far as the stawell 1600m winner goes he had 9 races and kept getting a lifts cant blame the runner for making the handicapper look stupid!!!!!

Middle distance handicapper would have done a lot of scalp scratching on the weekend. He won't need to see a barber for a while. The graph represents the amount of hair loss per event as the weekend unfolded.

Could very well be the progressive hair loss of the Val distance handicapper over Easter.
