With only two more chances to grab a bonus will we see another athlete grab the chance? I am not sure I have MacGibbon in my top 6 but he has now given himself a better chance to progress having won at Euroa. I am predicting a winner from someone who wants to leave the season with a win rather than someone who is focused on the bonus.

Mex is having a holiday, so you are stuck with me again! Hopefully you all enjoyed the preview last week. Onto Ararat, the last of the 120m gifts before the big one. Is anyone still searching for a Stawell Lift? Or will someone out front pick up a gift win?

Rhys Gillson 8.25m (7%): Ran a very quick heat last week at Euroa, but then missed the final. First time I have seen him run in the VAL this season. Maybe needed the run? Would he go well at Stawell off 8.75m? It's hard to get a read when you don't see someone race till March. If he runs he should final.

Cam Dunbar 8.75m (19%): Cam continued his good form by coming 3rd in a very quick Euroa Gift final last week. Should be in the final again this week and will go close. 9.25m at Stawell...Is that enough to sneak into a final? If he runs, he wins for mine.

Kristerfer Kardakovski 10.5m/Nick Magree 10.5m (9%): Kardakovski has made almost every gift semi final this season and will make another here. At his best he will make the final too. Magree ran very well last week at Euroa and is a huge chance to take another gift win here after his success at Trinity earlier in the season. Top 3 chance for mine.

Darren Whittaker 12.5m/Daniel Flesfadar 13m (12%): I don't think Darren will run. But if he does, he will be in the top 3. Is always there abouts when he is at his best. I have no idea about the recent form of Flesfader, but from memory I think he has won the Bay 70 twice? I hope I'm thinking of the right person. On further inspection of the SAAL website he ran 13.15 to come 4th in the Flagstaff Hill 120m 2 weeks ago. Semi Final for mine.

Tim Potter 13.5m/Tim Rosen 13.75m (13%): First time back in Victoria for Tim Potter since his 400m frontmarkers triumph at Stawell last season. Last weekend at Tassy state champs he ran 12.18 (-0.1) in the 100m and 25.03 (-0.6) in the 200m. I'd say these times are a little bit behind where he was at last season and he will be Semi Final at best. As for myself, I will be hoping to make my first gift final since Terang last year and would be disappointed with anything less than that.

Jonathon Rogers 15.5m/Holly Dobbyn 17m (19%): Another Gift final last weekend at Euroa for Jonno, showing that his run at Bendigo was no fluke. He's running well. And he will be in another here. Top 3 finish for mine, and would be a very popular winner. Will they catch him? I don't think so. Holly has returned to her absolute best this season with season's bests of 12.37 (-0.3) in the 100m and 24.98 (+1.1) in the 200m. Is this a practice run to see if she can hold off some faster runners behind her? Her mark is tight in the women's after winning Stawell a few years back. She will need to be in PB shape come Stawell. Will Semi here.

See you all there!
