12 Mar 2017.

Ringwood’s Harrison Kerr completed a 12-month plan when he won the Black Opal 400m final.

Kerr, who has only been racing seriously for four years, showed in his semi-final victory that he’d be hard to beat in the final and he produced a carbon copy performance in the decider.

He raced to the front in the final and showed great strength to hold off a classy field which included Bendigo duo Jake Hilson and Lonain Burnett.

Kerr (32m) ran a time of 44.795 seconds to defeat Ashley Kenshole (24m) and a gallant Hilson (25m

“I’ve trained for 12 months for this. All my planning went into it,’’ Kerr said.

“All the hard work has paid off.”

Kerr won $3500 and a Black Opal.

PS: The Advertiser has footage of the race on its website.
