One of my favourite events for the year. Why we don't have a gift over varying distances at different stages through the year is beyond me. Bring back the 550m Gift as well. Anyway, on to the poll.

Just looking at the marks for this, and it appears that the field has had a blanket pull of 2mt. Rosen is off 8.5 in the open and 6.5 in the Don. I thought when they pulled a scratch man it was supposed to be percentage based, according to rules and regs ? Give's the backies an extra 2 mt to catch Rosen. Doesn't seem quite right.

cantrun my son.
In a race with a 7 metre limit. you think 6.50 doesn't sound right? How much more would you like?

As my beloved Uncle Achmed use to tell me,

Its better to fix what you have, than wait to get what you don't have.

Cantrun. I believe you are referring to the rule "Adjustment to race distances when events are readjusted to scratch" see pg.19 in the guidelines or the following:

"When handicaps for the entire field are adjusted either forward or back due to the inclusion of a backmarker
who would otherwise be handicapped behind scratch, or as a result of the field being pulled back to scratch,
the handicap adjustments will be proportional to the net distance normally covered from each handicap. This
is in order to allow for the different RPMs of athletes from different handicaps and to maintain the equity of
the handicapped race with the change in distance."
"For example if an 800 Frontmarker event is handicapped to scratch and the Backmarker normally has a
handicap of 70, the distance each athlete runs will be adjusted by 9.59% (70/730). The adjustments to
handicap ranges would then be calculated by adding 9.59% to the distance covered from each handicap. As
a result an athlete with a normal handicap of 120 would come back 66 metres to an adjusted handicap of 54,
in order to run 746 metres (680 * 1.0959)."

I appreciate the support cantrun Wink But surely running an extra 2m won't make that much of a difference. Maybe a few cm's? I am happy to run off 6.55m if that's the case Razz

I think that rule more applies for field pulls in lets say a 400/800/1600 where people may be pulled 10-20m etc. Then it should vary depending on your mark.

Quick, call the stewards because I am not trying. Check the votes and it looks good. The final by GLPR could go close. I was just interested to see if people wanted to talk about it. Great voting here though.
