I was thinking of doing the two mile again but judging by the numbers not even the athletes care too much about them anymore so why would the tipsters? There has been a bit of talk about the timing of the 800m so why not look at it. Who are we putting the spotlight on this week?

One of the biggest and usually the quickest 800s on the calendar. If the track is fast, and the weather is set to be 30 so this will harden the surface, this should be a cracker.

Genuine chances from the back to the front, unlike previous years where this event has been dominated by those between 10-55m.

Chances
Backies: Donnar.
Mid-fielders: Grant. Moore. Andrews Burnett.
Fronties: Cohen. Page. Hilson.
True fronties: Catalano. Cant. White

Interesting Fact: Almost the entire field from last year's Stawell final (except the Kenyan and Big Red from SA) are on the start list, mostly on identical marks. Here's how they line-up relative to last year's finishing positions.

Bacalja -20m
Burnett same
Andrews +4m
Kenyan
Moore same
Lawlor same
Curran -2m
Polkinghorne same
Big Red
Anderson +2

Nice analysis on last years Stawell final there, based on there current form suggest:

Bacalja back 20 and obviously not in the same shape based on his 1 run this year unlikely to win.
Burnett a good chance with good form, thought he should have won Maryborough but maybe this is the one for him.
Andrews looks a chance has been there abouts and this race looks no different.
Moore as the pundits have it looks the likely winner, with good form going in and a win over 400 last week.
Lawlor obviously in better shape than his only 800 at Northcote and suggest will figure right in it.
Curran yet to produce any of last years form and looks to be struggling.
Polkinghorne also just 1 800 this year at Northcote, if he can improve on that will be there abouts.
Anderson the interesting one, came from no where to make a Stawell final last year so should be considered if he does the same here.

Outside of this:

Donnar has shown some signs this year and looks to be on the up.
Rakhra 1 run for a final in Castlemaine, one worth watching.
Grant seems to give his all and has shown he is quite capable.
Agree with your 3 fronties Catalano, Cant, White all have good times up but surely they will have to find to win here and not sure they have much more to give.

I am of the opinion that this is probably a bit weaker than other years and those he can find a little time give themselves a great chance of winning.

In order and based on form Moore from Burnett & Andrews.

Good luck all

Well one might say bugger all interest in this race after very little voting.

Dylan Moore is the only chance according to the poll and why not? He has looked good in each of his races and probably could have won something. Ballarat may be his target so good luck to him. He is turning himself into a handy runner. Good chance to salute here.

Ho Hum, I might grab a coffee to stay awake during this race then if no one cares. It will be just before I leave anyway.
