================================================================

Given what we saw last Sunday at Sacred Heart, this is no surprise.

Next week, at Brighton, is the first Under 18's 400m of the season.

I completed the Brighton handicaps yesterday and with a 58sec net time, Rose was allocated scratch. The event has been handicapped on the average of an athlete's three best times (2 best pro runs & 1 best time from the amateurs where relevant). This run of 57.35sec is a solid PB for Rose, first time she's gone sub 58sec.

My standard approach is that if the athlete has run a few times with the SAAL, then records a PB after the marks have been set, then the mark stands.

Hopefully she returns from Canberra ready to run at Brighton. It will be fantastic to see what she can run off the peg on grass.

Jordan McMillan also ran a significant PB - 63.29sec in her All Schools Under 14's 400m heat. Best time I had for previously was 64.67sec. So if she brings that to the start line next week, off her mark at Brighton, she will be hard to run down. Laughing

Just for the record there were 10 of the 20 Brighton Women's U/18 400m entries with ASA PB's which were included in the sample of results to determine an athletes' 3 best times.

I think she may have gone somewhere near again under the the conditions of 30deg plus and that they where at the track for 8hours prior to running I think was excellent
Well done

Just curious to know if this is your personal approach (as in a system you have devised and apply) or what is recommended by the handicapping guidelines?

By the way, does anyone know where to find the handicapping guidelines for SAAL?

Hi Dizzy

The SAAL have been really generous with information this season and regularly put out a Newsletter via email.
If you go to SAAL facebook and scroll down to Newsletter 4 on 24th October , click on information about Handicap table and maybe that will help you.
