Todd Ireland

Just a quick note to let runners know that there recently was a fire in the factory next to where the traditional Gillman sashes are produced.
As a result the Gillman operation has not been able to produce sashes in recent months. The Northcote committee prefers the quality sashes that Gillmans produce, and therefore winners at our upcoming meeting will not receive their sash until January when they are back operating. All winners will have their name embossed on the sash. Any interstate winners who are not coming back to Victoria this season, will have their sashes sent to them.
Also, due to the large number of entries our meeting will need to start at 11am.

Fantastic to hear great entries Todd. You guys put on a terrific gift meeting.

I for one am glad that they will still be a Gillman's sash and would be happy to wait for it. The added bonus of having the winners name printed on them will look great on any wall.

A very good initiative having the names on the sashes, it is also very comforting that the entries for Northcote are up and good as the start to the VAL season has been worrying with meets falling away and a very poor entries in the meetings last weekend,

The VAL need to be mindful of what else is happening in the world of athletics to hold meetings clashing with AV relay state champs should be avoided …..there were lots of regular pro runners at the AV state relay champs…..there were more pro-runners at the State relays than at Warrnambool.

Spot on Fast

And you dont have to be a Rhode scholar to know that Camden Classic is on the first weekend in Feb every year, Womans 400m worth just as much as the men , yet Ballarat is scheduled for the same weekend. Sleep Sleep Sleep

Yes something we at Ballarat are very mindful of and are disappointed with the date clash this year. We had anticipated different AV scheduling when setting our date many months ago.

We will do every thing we can next year to avoid a clash with Camden as we very much want SA athletes to attend our meeting.
