This race is very telling when it comes to how better athletes will chase the bonus for Stawell. There are some guys who could absolutely benefit from a metre and so travel money. I think this will be a hotly contested final as the Sandy 100m proved to be. Be thankful for the Women and Masters 300m otherwise numbers would be terrible!

The Master

If Dunmall is in the 10.44 shape he was a few weeks ago he'll be hard to beat, potentially could run I'm guessing 10.1-10.2 on the mondo surface, extremely quick track down at the Bool. Goes to Stawell with 4m if he wins, early call but could he do back to back?

Another good final, I agree that Woodgate may be the one to catch. Dunmall and Eschebach a chance. Dion Paull may win Northcote.

Would have picked Nettlfold based on last years 70 m final. Not entered. My tip for Norcote.

Funny how there is now a lot of interest in the smaller gift races due to the incentive program. If I am honest I do not think that if you win you should be rewarded in this way but it does flush out a couple of athletes early like Camille last week. Three to talk about.

Tim Rooke 4m - 26% - Reasons he can win are plenty. Has run well of less of a mark before. Is young enough to still run good times. I am not sure if he is really focused at the moment. 6m in the gift at Easter would be great for him. Will he wait one more year is my question. Watch him for small improvements.

James Woodgate 4.25m - 9% - If he runs he has the potential to run a 10.40 and come back later in the season and be in the mix. Can he beat the next vote getter though is my big query.

Dion Paull 7.25m - 11% - If he is the pea he will win a race this weekend. I think he was probably shut down last year after Ware became the one to watch. Should win a race and probably a pretty good one. Is he Stawell material? I would not have thought so based on last season but if he improved over winter everything is possible. Not sure if I would be taking a big gift like Ballarat or Stonnington if I were him.

Could be the making of a very good race.
