Started looking at the Tea Tree Gully nominations for handicapping purposes - a total of 132 junior entries of which 115 are in the sprints, including 54 in the Under 18's 200m. Plenty of work to do over the next week.

All three junior sprints will be handicapped from scratch. Looking at the Under 18 Boys 70m, I could have up to six athletes on scratch such is the depth and the closeness of the backmarkers. Limit will be 16m.

Combining the Under 18's in the 200m makes it an interesting exercise. Admittedly I got it wrong in 2015 where it was dominated by the boys, as it had been for a few years before that.

In January this year, the girls were much more competitive with four making the final.

This year about 35% of the 200m field is female so if at least two make the final, that's a reasonable result.

Would that be a record number of entries for TTG.?

Easily the most entries ever received for a TTG meet, justifying their move to a November date.

Those unique maroon & blue sashes will be harder to win than ever before.

Did a rough count of last seasons noms from the results and came up with 281, thats noms, not how many actually ran.
Noms for this season 355, thats a bit over a 25% increase .......I think
Great for TTG and Great for the SAAL cheers cheers cheers cheers cheers

Been a slight change of heart with the Tea Tree Gully with only one of the three junior sprints handicapped from scratch.

70m Under 18 Boys
The depth & quality is very good so it wasn't hard to just pull the field back around 2 to 3m. There are six athletes off scratch and the novice mark is 3.0m.

70m Under 18 Girls
With less entries the quality doesn't run as deep as the boys so I haven't got anyone on scratch. Basically kept them around the same as last year with the  backmarker off 3.0m. With only five of the 24 entrants behind 6.0m the novice mark is now 6.0m.

200m Under 18's
An all-in race of 56 athletes. Lewis Abdul would have been the nominal scratchman as he was at Flinders but he hasn't entered. Rather than pull the field back, I've used Flinders as the base and kept them around the same with lifts for those who genuinely need them. Backmarker is on 6m. In respect to the girls, the tightest handicapped is off 30m. The limit is 60m.

Cmon Mr Handicapper , give TJ back his metre.
Tim Johnson ran 3rd last season at TTG off 18m , didnt run the 200m at McKinnon or Flinders .
I know he has shown form over shorter distances but one would have thought he would have kept his 18m .
Now Im not asking to GIFT TJ a win in the Johnson Family 200m and TJ wouldnt want that either but how many more seasons is there left in those legs.
3rd last season off 18m ,I would think 18m this season would be more than fair, no more ,no less.
Lets hope the Handicapper can squeeze another metre out come Sunday , either way TJ all the best as I reckon this sash would be one you would want.

Might want to check your Pulteney result.
Pretty sure if you run 2nd in an open 200m, you don't need a lift.

PULTENEY 200m FINAL - March 2016
Position Name Colour Mark Time
1 Brian Wilson Red 12.00m 20.77
2 Tim Johnson Green 17.00m 20.97
3 Damian Tohl White 13.00m 21.15
4 Nickolas Berry Black 24.00m 21.30
5 Connor Verrall Blue 14.00m 21.46
6 Chris Keegan Yellow 16.00m 23.26

Thanks for that Admin I was looking at McKinnon 2015 results
As for saying that he dont need a lift
1/ His 18m wasnt good enough to win at TTG last season less than a year ago in fact when he was in pretty good form which included a double of 120m wins in the weeks that followed.
2/ TTG 200m pre Christmas is so much stronger than McKinnon 200m last meet of the season.
3/ TJ is expected to run a heat, semi and final at TTG in the space of approx 100mins where at McKinnon it was only heat and final. He aint getting any younger.
So as you can see comparing the two x 200m is like comparing apples with pears.

Thanks for your reply and putting me straight but I just think , pre Christmas quality of the field, 3 x 200m and off 17m TJ wont be able to create a Fairytale performance like Dawkins did at Flagstaff, I hope Im wrong.
