One of my favourite events for the weekend is the Herb. Generally an excellent field with a number of chances and this one is no exception. Who are the main chances? I have my pick.

Will need a perfect two from Rowe to factor. However, given nationals are only 3 or 4 days after this event, unlikely.

Not a lot of action here with Clayton the only one with multiple votes, so here goes with a brief synopsis.

With Nationals a few days later will the field become light on?

I really like Rowe here. He has much faster pb’s than the Kenyan. Rowe ran 3.59 in the Vic Mile championship so would expect a low 4 min race in The Herb. That has most of these covered.
Clayton goes up 10m for winning $1800 at Stonnington. Suspect he is set for 400/550 but could be ready for this.
Davies meets Clayton 5m worse off for being beaten at Stonnington but is young and may be suited here.
In January, Bacalja paced a milers club 1500m race and took them through 1200m in 3.10. Robinson won that race in 3.56. He was very good last year at Stawell winning the mile and 2nd in 2 mle.
Marantelli ran 3.50 on the same night in the A race. If Rowe cannot get on then Marantelli becomes the stalker to the front group.
Williamson was good at Bendigo and was run down by only the backmarker.
Burrows has a turn of foot so could be a sneaky chance off the front in a slow run race.

How good is it that Stawell has Internet, see you all when you get here for a great weekend.

Great run from an improving Davies. Looks like he learnt a lot at Stonnington when Clayton sat on him until the sprint home.
