Great effort by the PA boys who all regularly run Pros to get the win.

People want to know what committment is , a couple of these boys ran in the Athleticsa State Relay Champs in the morning in Adel and then drove to Loxton and competed in the Saal
Certainly a big day for Abdul, Gold Medal ,followed by a Loxton sash.

Good on Abdul and Osmond for supporting their club and Loxton on the same day. Don't know much about relay times, sounds slick. About 10.65 per runner.
A team of regular pro-runners knocked off the supposed states best sprinters.
Brusnhanan didn't have to spin the head around like a sideshow clown to see where the opposition is, like he did at the ATC. just had to look ahead.

Great work birdman. Popular win from what I hear.
After the track classic a lot of people were not impressed with the disrespect shown by the saints athlete to the opposition.
Karma. Twisted Evil

I agree with the sentiments of others. Terrific effort and great to see Port Adelaide win the state 4x100m title. Apart from the Port Adelaide crew, I don't think anyone saw this coming. Especially when two of the athletes were heading up to Loxton and Saints had state individual 100m title holders Brusnahan and Schinella in their team.

42.59sec is very good for a SA club based relay team. It's just outside the time that would have got them on the national rankings (normally around sub 42.40). Decent time for a Saints team with 42.64. Probably the fastest time by a Saints team since the 1990's. I can't recall two SA club teams breaking 43secs in a relay since 2007 when Westerns (41.78) beat Tea Tree Gully (41.99) in the Club Challenge.

Must have been pretty exciting with only 0.05 separating Port and Saints at the finish.

It's the fastest time by a Port Adelaide squad since Andrew Matthews, Brad Jamieson, Steve Landers and Keith Sheehy ran 42.39sec to win the 4x100m state title in 2005.

In the last 15 years (since 2001) fourteen SA based relay teams have appeared in the national rankings. In order of times recorded they are:

Time- Team - Venue - Date
41.30 Western District, Adelaide 14/01/2010
41.31 SA State Team, Brisbane 4/04/2003
41.55 SA State Team, Brisbane 14/04/2002
41.68 SA State Team, Canberra 30/01/2010
41.75 SA State Team, Brisbane 29/03/2014
41.78 Western District, Adelaide 24/11/2007
41.98 Western District, Adelaide 12/11/2012
41.99 SA State Team, Adelaide 21/02/2015
41.99 Tea Tree Gully, Adelaide 24/11/2007
42.14 Western District, Canberra 27/03/2004
42.20 Tea Tree Gully, Adelaide 16/12/2004
42.30 Western District, Adelaide 14/12/2013
42.39 Port Adelaide, Adelaide 14/12/2005
42.43 Tea Tree Gully, Adelaide 2/04/2006

The state record is 40.37 by the all conquering team of Varcoe, Hutton, Byrne and Noblet at the nationals in 1996. 20 years ago this year!

What sort of time would a SA state relay team be capable of running, if all pros & amateurs were available? ( mid 41's?). By the way, well done to Port Adelaide with relay result & great effort to go & run @ Loxton on same day & win the Gift too!

Best team available? Probably low 41secs.

I would like to think they could break 41sec but history shows it's not likely given the (lack of) depth of sprinting in SA.

Might have to get caldow and tj back from qld and then see what we could run

Very disappointing to see the performance of the South Australian 4x100m relay teams at the National Junior championships. There were six teams entered:

Under 20 Boys - Last of 5. 1.5secs behind 2nd last.
Under 20 Girls - Disqualified
Under 18 Boys - Disqualified
Under 18 Girls - Disqualified
Under 16 Boys - Disqualified
Under 16 Girls - Last of 5. 4secs behind 2nd last.

Like many things in SA athletics accountability is not a strong suit so I don't expect anything to change but to have four teams disqualified is humiliating and embarrassing.

I dont think they ever do any training for it....conversations ive ad with parents of our athletes is that these trips are very expensive and not organized that well so some of the best athletes dont go
They need a high performance team for relays and actually train for it instead of throwing teams together at the last minute
Just my thoughts
