Flagstaff Hill - Under 20's Numbers into the stratosphere!

The Flagstaff Hill carnival will be on Saturday 5th March 2016.

Preliminary entries are in and I was staggered to see 44 in the Under 20 Boy's 70m and 41 in the Under 20 Girl's 70m. 85 nominations between the two Under 20 races. That's a huge number for Under 20's. There was only 40 entries last year when it was a combined race.

I was wondering why there was a 100% increase on last year....THEN I saw the prizemoney. (see below)

70m Under 20 Boys - $545.00
70m Under 20 Girls - $545.00
70m Open 14m $250.00
120m Open 18m $500.00
120m Women - $500.00
120m Over 35 - $300.00
400m Over 45 - $1000.00
400m Women - $300.00
400m Novice 80m $200.00
550m Open 110m $500.00
550m Under 14 - $100.00
1600m Under 17 - $175.00
1600m Open 350m $500.00

Under 20 Boys and the Under 20 Girls are each running for more than the Open Gift! No wonder the kids are jumping out of the woodwork to run at Flagstaff Hill. You can buy plenty of ITune credits with the money on offer at Flagstaff!

Currently the Open Gift has only 23 entries.

"Let's Go While We're Young"

Whilst Flagstaff is an excellent meeting, I think the U20 races may be overstated with numbers because they replace the cancelled Pre-Bay U20 races. Everyone who registered for the cancelled races were automatically entered in the Flaggy events. Will be interesting to see if they all turn up!
