Another great event for our female athletes. Not as many entries as the open event, but it is a good field non the less. Who are the women's chances?

2 Re: Stonnington Women's 100m on Sat Feb 13, 2016 9:38 pm

Toolman

Bunevicius
Cockerell
Jones
Payne
Henderson
Pomroy

Bunevicius for the 10k and never to be seen in the Pro's again. Other chances to Stevens Hammond Strauss and Mackey

After watching the Women's at Trinity today you would think that anybody that finished behind Angie Wilson would be no chance at Stonnington but I am actually going to promote Hammond into my final at the expense of Pomroy. She had 5.75m at Trinity for the 120m and has 5.25m at Stonnington which doesn't quite compute but will work in her favour. Cockerell missed the final but I expect her to run a lot better next week so I'm leaving her in.

Geez not many entries - 64 I think was the count, on the back of only 50 odd in the ballarat women's gift.

Shows the need to have good sponsors with deep pockets - $15K race and only about $3K - $3.5K has come from entry fees

A potentially classy final for this one, to just make the final you have to be moving well. The Stawell Women's 120m throws a small spanner in the works as there may be a couple who essentially trial on Friday and miss the win. Funny watching how the ladies are doing it this year, last week was a poor example of how not to win. As someone said to me yesterday, "we always try" I guess it is just not always to win. Let's look at the tips.

Kayla Bunevicius 4.5m (19%) - Kayla has shown good form recently and I have no reason to think that she will do anything else on Friday night. She does have the same mark as what she won off as has been discussed in a recent thread. If this changes, she can't win. If she keeps it, she may final but only just.

Jessica Payne 6.25m (19%) - 'Do you feel the Payne' is moving well no doubt. But, I think we all know that this is not her focus this year. Her Ballarat heat showed what she is capable of and has cost her a small margin in handicap. She will final and run in the top three or four, and go for a final at Stawell. Sorry Shane, but that is how I see it.

Carryne Teo 8.25m / Keely Henderson 8.5M (14%) - Teo coming across is interesting. She has a fairly good mark, but I am not sure she will run the sub 12 seconds to win. I would think that a semi at best. maybe with a time around 12.3. Henderson is cherry ripe for this one in my books. Her recent run at Ballarat suggests that she was struggling over the closing stages of the 120m. I think the 100m will suit her and if it were me I would think that this may be too good an opportunity to refuse. Watch her jump out of the blocks, put some pressure on early and cross the line with a squeal of delight. Henderson to win.

this proves to be a very interesting race, I am looking forward to watching this one. Good luck.

Geez Mex you must have a crystal ball or something mate that prediction was nearly spot on. I was rapt for my daughter getting the win as that was her target and was trained to the minute by Craig. Sarah Blizzard ran an absolute cracking trial for Stawell and probably deserves to be the early favourite. Would be  an amazing performance if she could final for a third straight year and grab a win.
