Toolman

If a runner is getting these results should they be getting ticks for their Women's Mark ??

Daylesford

Open 100m Ht 15.75m 11.315sec 13.43(100m)
Open 100m Sf 15.75m 11.326sec 13.44(100m)
Womens 100 Ht 6.25m 12.869sec 13.71(100m)
Women's 100 Fl 6.25m 13.07secs 13.94(100m)
NAP and rightly so

Rye

Womens 120m Ht 7.50m 14.622 12.99(100m)
Tick

St Albans

Open 120m Ht 18m 13.149sec 12.89(100m)
Womens 120m 7.50m 14.854sec 13.20(100m)
Tick and lift to 7.75m for Wang

Ringwood

Open 100m Ht 16.25m 10.82sec 12.91(100m)
Open 100m SF 16.25m 10.73sec 12.81(100m)
Open 100m Fnl 16.25m 10.84sec 12.94(100m)
Womens 100m Ht 6.5m 12.24sec 13.09(100m)
Tick

You would think running the extra 10 odd metres of a Womens Race would actually allow you to increase your rate per metre rather then hinder it. If anybody has a rational explanation could you let me know. I don't know I may be missing something. As soon as someone drops two metres they are usually slapped with a Nap. Do these results fall within the allowable amount of difference in Rpm ?

Toolman,

I have no association with this athlete in question but I felt it necessary to reply. You have failed to mention many things here.

1) The Daylesford grass roller coaster track is horrendous and slow (and starts with a big uphill so the further back you are the slower you run).
2) The further distance run on the St.Albans track the slower you run due to the start of the 120 track not being as friendly.
3) You have chosen the results that you felt like choosing and not shown some others.
4) The Ringwood 100m was on Track and therefore would be way faster than most grass surfaces.
5) Junior athletes are prone to a lot more fluctuations than seasoned runners.

I think it is very unfair to be having a go at a junior on here, and we should be encouraging young runners to stay in the sport not giving them a reason to leave. Whether you believe something is up or not, surely it is not fair to try and shame a junior athlete on a public forum.

Cheers.

I'm not trying to pot any young runners TimRosen35 I simply asked a question seeking an explanation on how these discrepancies could occur and you seem to thrown up a few valid reasons which was exactly what I was seeking. Thanks for your input mate.

Baltimore Jack

Hey Toolman

Open 100m Ht 16.25m 10.82sec 12.91(100m)
Open 100m SF 16.25m 10.73sec 12.81(100m)
Open 100m Fnl 16.25m 10.84sec 12.94(100m)
Womens 100m Ht 6.5m 12.24sec 13.09(100m)

What do the numbers in bold indicate?

agree with rosen. not fair taking a pot shot at a junior. we all know what she is set for but give the kid a break. im sure she runs because she loves it. keep it that way

G'day Baltimore Jack those times are what she would run the 100m based on her rate per metre in that race

I'm sure she loves her running too GLPR. I'm sure all the girls love running mate

8 Re: Consistently Inconsistent on Tue Feb 02, 2016 12:33 pm

DDog

God Toolman, You have picked out only one athlete when there are multiple athletes with discrepancies. Why pick on this girl/woman?

9 Re: Consistently Inconsistent on Tue Feb 02, 2016 1:20 pm

Toolman

I'm not picking on the young lady Ddog and she is basically the only one the runs open gifts and Women's gifts on the same day so is the only one that you can do a comparison on. I'm simply asking is it acceptable to run at two to different RPMs over the same distance on the same day and what underlying factors can cause this as TimRosen35 pointed a few out. I will leave it at that the subject has got a little bit too prickly. I wish the girl well in her endeavours. I don't won't to turn into the next Whispers.im Sorry I mentioned it

For what it's worth I don't think the stats are any cause for concern for a young girl who I believe is 15. As a handicapper of junior events, I see 'differences' in times far greater than this on a regular basis. All one can do is handicap them on their best performances. You might ask a question or two in the more extreme cases (of inconsistency) but I think you just have to appreciate there are many variables that can affect a performance.
