Two polls this week, I couldn't resist putting the Women's race up as well. Who goes for one of the biggest Women's races around? Who will trial for Easter behind the winner?

I like Taft Boustead and McCann to fight this one out. Boustead keeps her winning mark from Terang were her time was pretty slick and Taft keeps her winning Mark from Wangaratta where she got over the top of Mcquade who smashed everyone at St Albans. McCann has been knocking on the door of late and with the UP at Marby for whatever reason for a close up second suggests she maybe after one of these bigger ones. Their my three to beat

GLPR you have picked my girl too win. Do you know something I don't mate ?? Your final looks pretty close maybe you could throw in Exum Purkiss and a couple of the younger POD Squadders too. Should be a ripper race.

This race intrigues me as a precursor to Stonnington and Stawell. Who wants to grab a healthy prize and the Ballarat Sash? Funny, but I don't think the highest poll getters are the ones who will win. Lets see what the tipping revealed.

Stephanie Richards 7.75m (12%) - Poll favourite, but not who will win this race. She has not been running in the Women's races preferring to run in the Open. While this has put her under a different kind of pressure, she is running a much shorter distance. Lest be realistic, she will make the semis, probably make the final and run in the back half. Can she win Stawell? Not sure, there are a number of runners who think they can this year or are at least setting themselves for this year.

Melanie Purkis 7.75m (8%) - Has shown enough to suggest that she is going to win at some stage this season, if she wants to. Great effort to make multiple finals recently, was spoken to after a lack lustre run at Rye in the 70m and in my opinion the women 120m. Another one to watch in all the main races as she looks good.

Jessica Payne 8m (8%) - Payne is another who seems to be skipping many women's races or just getting through with little fan fare. She has a handy mark and will be getting set for a tilt. Another who may essentially trial at Ballarat and come oh so agonisingly close, but miss the sash. Final likely, if not questions could be asked. I was extremely surprised at her 300m at Yarra Ranges, I thought she was a good chance based off how well she was running the Womens/Masters races. Sorry Shane, but that is how I see it. Definite prospect to watch later in the season.

Keely Henderson 10.25m (8%) - Maybe I am misreading a previous post, but judging from a comment either Hubbaup wants better odds or Keely is not set yet. Nice little runner who has been well managed. Not much tho say here other than watch this space.

Realistically you could throw in McCann, Stevens, Exum, Cartledge, Domaschenz, Taylor (probably not set yet) and a few more to really have a chance at winning, but as crazy as it sounds I am not sure who wants it. Time will tell.
Sorry for the pretty negative post, but one thing is for sure, the ladies are working out how to play the game with the huge carrot of Stawell for the next two years at least.
