The women 300m will also be very interesting to watch. Ladies with a chance to pick up some serious cash before focusing back on the sprint distances and Ballarat, Stonnington and Stawell. Who are the chances?

I think the tipsters have this one pretty right. After 41 votes here are the top vote getters.

Jessica Payne 8m (22%) - Jessica has run well this season when she has wanted to. Her 400m heat at Rye showed she is very capable over this distance, her final left a lot to be desired though. She has run sparingly in the sprints which has me for one looking at her potential later in the year. A 300m race would probably suit her right now and allow her to sharpen up before the crack at a big one. She is a definite chance here and is my tip.

Kirsty Stevens 19m (10%) - Kirsty is looking fit and could pose a real danger to Jessica Payne. She has been moving well in both the sprints and slightly longer races this season. She will make the final and may cause some problems if she forces Payne wide. She may take the lead late in the race, but I think will fall just short of the win.

Danielle McDowell 38m (15%) - Danielle has been running 300m races all season in that he mark for the 400m has her running about 300m. She has been leading these races and just being swapped by the end. Put her in a 300m race where she is running 262m, she will lead the races and put the pace on before Payne and Stevens come flying home at her. Will final, will struggle to hold on to the podium though.

This race could prove to be very interesting as a precursor to Easter for both the sprint and 400m races. Good luck.

Not quite so good on the tips for the Women's 300m;
1st  Loryn Savoia  27.0
2nd  Tara Domaschenz  15.0
3rd  Karly Tafft  26.0
37.61

The top 3 weren't tipped, in fact, the podium only polled 6 votes between them all! But like the Men's 300m, the winner was obvious, but with the last 50m of the race, the placegetters could have come from about 5 athletes.

Kirsty Stevens looked very threatening down the straight and reeling the fronties in, but wasn't quite able to get there. Jess Payne's mark of 8m was just too tight in the heats and she is feeling the effects of a the penalties from other wins this season. But with the lifts handed back to another multi-race winner last season, Jess' mark should head out again pretty soon!
Elizabeth Rauch was also hunting down the leaders as one of the threats for a podium finish, so let's keep her in mind for Bendigo and Stawell.
Jess Gulli, from 3m, finished just behind the main pack and put up a stellar run from such a tight mark.

Great racing from the ladies in this 300m final, the richest 300m Women's event in the history of the world! Maybe not quite, but it did provide incentive for some quality aths.

Thank you girls for supporting this event.
