The annual Australia Day Gift, Maribyrnong has turned into a great day for one of the smaller gifts. A few different names, who do we think?

Bang bang

The two R"s are popular in voting all for Rosen I would think, but it's Paull for me, been a major improver

From Wangaratta to Maribyrnong, what better to do on a Sunday Evening than to have a glass of red and write about another gift. We see the return of Ed Ware for a bit of training before his handy mark is utilised at Stawell. Not as many votes here but we will see how we go.

Khan Marr 3.5m (13%) – Out of respect I will not mention Wangaratta other than to say that Marr lost time from his heat to final. If he works out how to run a full 120m race we are all in trouble.  Judging by how hard he has been trying to pick off a Gift each time he has run you would think he is a huge chance should he turn up. If he misses here does he turn up to Ringwood or Yarra Ranges for a sash, half metre but little prize money? I am not sure if his body would like the rubber track though.  Final if he runs and definite chance.

Dion Paul 8.25m (13%) – Dion’s mark has crept out nicely since his time running in the gift fields. He has made multiple finals this year and failed to pick up a sash. I am still not sure what his plan is for this year, but am pretty confident I know what he will be working on over winter. Didn’t set the world on fire judging by his efforts at Wangaratta. If he runs to his exposed form he should make the final. Has his form slipped? Final likely.

Noddy Angelakos 11.5m (10%) – Noddy was absent from his stable mates victory at Wangaratta. I hope it was not because he had succumbed to an injury after his brilliant start to the New Year. His St Albans run showed that he is still chasing gift glory. It would be interesting if he were to bypass this one and have a dip at Ballarat. Another athlete with a huge chance if he shows up.

Tim ‘The Man’ Rosen 13.75m / Jonathon Rogers 14m (19%) – Rosen looks like he has lost his form, his times have dropped and unless he can get himself going again his season is done. What is still good is his mark. Come next season he will be right back in the mix to piss people off from the front. I guess he may make the final, but he is more likely to get run out during the semis. Rogers is plodding along out in front. He has never really shown any form over the Sheffield distance and while he seems a nice bloke, he is not one to worry about any time soon. Will likely pick up a Masters race at some stage, maybe a 70m but just keep running past him. Votes here for Rosen.

What better way to celebrate Australia Day than at the running. Will you be there? Might see you there. Good luck.

I wish it was just form Mex! Unfortunately battling the body at the moment. Hence why I haven't raced much. But hopefully I will be back annoying you out in front in no time though Wink Enjoying the write ups. And keep those nicknames coming!

thought there must have been an injury tim. good win yesterday despite the injury. no one else in that final tried though was a farce.
