1 handicapping crap on Wed Dec 16, 2015 2:28 pm

The same old handicapping crap continues in the Vic Masters. The same runners are filling the placings as last year. The backmarkers win every race. Daryl N. needs to lift his game.

I think in general the 300m masters races are one of the closest contest out there so the win is open to many not just a small few as implied. Just looking at the last 7 races from last season and taking the top 4 there are no common names that place apart from 'Phelan' (Stawell / Bendigo) but don't believe he's even run a 300m this year (???). I was too lazy to go through every single event but would guess it would show that the same runners nor just back markers are always filling the placings. Maybe we need to take a bigger sample to see?

Stawell is over. 39 year old 400 hurdles aust rep who has run 49.5 over the 4 sticks, should be behind vets novice mark of 10m. He had 28m first up.
To put in context, ezard is over 40 and not as good and has to give him over 20m start.
a good runner off 10-14 can do serious damage as phelan showed off 10 last year.
adin 21m and no pull after running 45 secs in 400 @ stawell.

Big call to say Stawell is over already. History has shown for this event in particular, the finish is always very tight and this year will be no different.

Not a misprint. Start singing "Stawell is over" to the tune of "War is over".

Would that be Cold Chisel's "When the war is over" or John Lennon's "Happy Christmas (War is Over)? Either way it doesn't work for me. Kangaroota might have to sing a few bars at the Bay Sheffirld After Party.

Questions need to be answered - after a little of home work and hours of trolling I ask this question

Runner X Enters Meadowglen Masters 300 - 28m
Doesn't run.
Enters Nortcote Masters 300- 28m runs 38.35
Enters Albury Masters 300- 30m runs 38.00
Enters Marybourgh Maters 300-32m Doesn't Run.

Give me a spell Daryl 4m lift when not running to bad from 2 runs I thought there was a set of guidelines to follow when assessing runners marks.

Please Explain

Daryl doesn't have to explain anything and if he did its easy.
The slowest heat at Albury was 36.6.
38.00 was way off the average time.
28 runners in the heats broke 38 easily. 38.0 wouldn't get within 10m
Hecimovic ran last in the final in 37.40. Winner ran 35.2.
Athlete obviously needs the lift. actually needs more than 2m.

Baltimore Jack

Well that depends as long as he follows the rules set in place for a handicapper.

Yes your stats may ring true so does that mean every runner who doesn't run inside the time of the last placed finalist gets a weekly handicap increase of 2m or does the rule of 3 runs and then a handicap increase will be applied if applicable.

Hope we aren't ruffling the local feathers from over hear in SA.
