Hi All,

As you are aware, Warragul are not able to conduct their event this season. It was originally proposed to run on Saturday 30th January 2016.

In it's place, the Yarra Ranges Gift has been created and offers some exciting events and even more exciting prize money in selected events. It will be run at the Mt Evelyn Athletics Centre at Morrison Reserve, Bardup Rd, Mt Evelyn. Just out the back of the Yarra Ranges Secondary College. Car parking will be free and programs will be available at the gate.

The Yarra Ranges Athletics Club will be hosting the canteen with lots of rolls, sandwiches and drinks available to fuel hungry athletes. Again, All proceeds go directly back to the Club to help their fund raising efforts.

The proposed event listing & prize money is;

Yarra Ranges GiftPrize MoneyEntry Fee
VRTA 70m Womens$600$12
VRTA 70m Open$600$12
Sponsors name TBA 100m Women's/Masters$700$13
VRTA 100m U20$300$6
Zenith Lawyers 100m Open$600$12
Fearnley Massage 300m Restricted$300$6
Car City 300m Women's$2,000$25
Car City 300m Open$2,000$25
VRTA 300m Masters$1,000$16
VRTA 550m Open$1,000$16
Dual Heating & Air Conditioning 800m Womens$1,000$16
VCCL 1600m$1,000$16

So as you can see, there is some excellent prize money up for grabs. Winners will receive cash, sash & trophy. More sponsors are being finalised and more prizes are being finalised as we speak. This event will be open for entry in the coming days. In order for this replacement meet to be a raging success, we need the support of the athletes. We have forecast entries and by the looks of the forecasts, there might even be more $$$ up for grabs as the event draws closer. So more entries increases the chances of more $$$ up for grabs!

Interstate athletes, here is great event to enter, plenty of ticks to be had over various distances, $$$ to race for and with Camden the following weekend, great timing to sharpen up for SA's biggest and best 400m. Athletes from interstate could make a week of it, with Wangaratta on the 23rd, Maribyrnong on the 26th and Yarra Ranges on the 31st. This will be a great week of Victorian Pro Athletics.

Entry to the venue will be by way of gold coin donation, with 100% of donations going towards the Yarra Ranges Athletics Club to help them fund a new grandstand,

Help us put on the event for the Athletes, so be sure to enter and support both the VAL & VRTA.

Agreed, well done Shane and the VRTA for organising the event. Not sure promoting it as "plenty of ticks to be had over various distances" is such a good thing though.

Entries are now open for the Yarra Ranges Gift.

See http://www.val.org.au/Events/YarraRanges.aspx for entry details.

Interstate athletes, please consider this event to support, some great prize money on offer, Australia's richest 300m Gift, great trophies for winners (especially the 300m Gifts!), picturesque location and brilliant track to run on. It will be well worth the trip from interstate. Fly in early, fly out late, or even head over for Maribyrnong on the 26th and stay for the Yarra Ranges Gift the following Sunday.

Lots of different choices. Cr Maria McCarthy from the Shire of Yarra Ranges will be meeting and greeting the finalists too!

Track is only a couple of years old

Grass Warm Up area if you prefer

Great viewing from the hill & Club Rooms

Shane Mc you need to get a calculator to work out those progressions, clearly maths wasn't your strongest subject at school.

DDog

This looks like being a great event. Terrific idea to have Masters 100m and Masters 300. Biggest entries but a lot of clubs only have only one [ masters ] or even none. Haven't been there but looks great venue. Maybe earlier start/finish for country travellers.

Earlier start than 11.30??! affraid  You kidding?!! Clearly you're not running the 70m DDog and only the master events. 11.30 is already on the border of too early for sprinters!

Maybe the Masters events can be put first up, instead of starting early Question
