Relatively small numbers for Warrnambool. Maybe the pool should be who do we think will scratch?

Sorry, just realised that I did not put them in handicap order rather in alphabetical for both Warrnambool and Terang. Second and Third Gift and I am slipping already.

Double header weekend starting at Warrnambool. With three main chances will we see someone take the automatic 1m for winning come Stawell? A relatively small field, will some scratch rather than risk the run? Tips according to the poll are;

Khan Marr 2.75m (20 votes) - Everyone has been waiting for Khan to have a season without injury or perhaps just with a full commitment to the sport. Either way we all know he was a talent. Yet to really show form in a major and may be able to judge this race to perfection starting from the back. 4.25m at Stawell could be extremely handy for a runner of his talent.

Michael Bolton 6.75m (23 votes) - A lot of votes for a guy I have not seen tear up the track in recent times. Did not run in the major gifts last season. I would like to see him get a few runs under the belt before we really get him in the mix. He may be happy to have some pressure taken off him as well with someone else jumping out in front of him.

Edward Ware 6.75m (12 votes) - Ed usually does his best stuff around Easter. Seems to either have his program set or just plain wait. I would like to see Ed really attack some of the major gifts like Bay, Maryborough, Ballarat or Stonnuington. With his early speed the shorter Stonnuington could be an exciting prospect for him. Having said that, an early win here gives him 9.25m at Stawell and a chance to focus on this for the remainder of the season. Early days yet.

Even with the carrot of a metre dangling in front of the main chances for Easter glory, I see this and Terang as more of a front marker race. Warrnambool does not have too many true front markers, so watch for someone who thinks they may still be competitive after a win to take this one out.
