I know its the first meeting of the season but numbers dont look real flash in comparison to previous years.Rough guess I reckon noms would be down around 20%
Remember theres a limited amount of 120m before the BAY and this is one of them.Dont come sooking later about handicaps.

Not many for the Gift but Kevin Brittain adds some interest. Made two Stawell finals. If he's there, good on him for making the trip over.

Only 20 for the Open 400, where have all the 400 runners gone?

Only a couple of Team Townly athletes competing which decimates the old peoples racing....perhaps clashes with another event? All numbers down though which is a real pity. I'm not sure about Friday night meets, makes it difficult to prepare properly.

Biggsy whats wrong with Friday nights, what makes them harder to prepare for, like every other meet u turn up u warm up and then compete whats so hard about that

Aarion

Birdman, the difference with every other meet is for people who work Fridays or travel from the country. Turning up and warming up can be pretty hard when you knock off at 5.30 and have to be on your blocks at 6.30.

Under 17's for Henley has been split into Boys & Girls.

Just finalising the marks and I can say the backmarker (for both U/17's events) will be on scratch and the limit mark will be 24.00m.

Net Times:
U/17 Boy's 120m: 14.20secs.
U/17 Girl's 120m: 15.50secs.
U/20's 400m: 51.50secs.
U/14's 400m: 60secs.

Backmarker is also on scratch in the Under 20's and Under 14's 400m.

Under 14's limit is 90m.
Under 20's limit is also 90m.

Last year I felt I was caught out being generous to first up athletes, trying to make them instantly competitive. Athletes with no previous results with the SAAL will be allocated a novice mark unless there's something in their history to suggest the novice mark would be too generous.

The novice mark for the Henley Under 17 sprints is 8.0m for both boys and girls.

At Henley there are 6 girls and 5 boys who have been allocated the novice mark of 8.0m given it is their first start with the SAAL.

Marks should be out early next week.

Good luck to all and see you at Henley.
