ACTION PACKED DAY AT INVERARAY

SHANE FENTON reports fron INVERARAY CASTLE

A dull and damp morning gave way to a warm and sunny afternoon as once again a big holiday crowd made their way to Winterton Park in the picturesque grounds of Inveraray Castle for the annual highland games.

The games are famous for their solo piping competitions which attracted an entry of 130 pipers. That figure was surpassed in the highland dancing with almost 200 dancers of all ages taking to the boards.

There was an international field of 14 competitors in the heavy events with the highlight being the World Caber Tossing Championship. Entries were good in both the Open and Junior Track & Field events while 5 cyclists endured very testing under-wheel conditions for their four races.

SANCHEZ

No doubt about it. If there is a running meeting on anywhere in the world, Richard Norris is there.
