1 R I P Barry Poulter on Mon May 18, 2015 6:33 pm

Barry Poulter, aged 72 years, died in a house fire on Saturday May 16.
Barry ran in the 60's/70's winning Newcastle, Western Suburbs and the Tassie double: La Trobe and the Group 1 very rich Burnie Gift.

He was also the unofficial bookmaker at NSW meets for over a decade. To Protrack readers he was commonly known as Bazzap.

In the last couple of years he was seen regularly around the VAL meetings.
God bless our beloved "Wolf Man".

Condolences to all of Barry's family and friends. R.I.P.

Nice man he was. I had many a wager with him and many a long conversation from Marcus Arnold

I've been very busy the last few weeks with a number of things and haven't looked at Protrack for nearly two weeks. Only just read this news this morning and was saddened to learn of the tragic death of Barry "Bazza" Poulter. At Easter he was helping out with the bookmaking of the Women's 120m and spent a lot of time checking the form to ensure the prices offered were fair & reasonable.

I'd often get an email from Bazza about form guides and research results. He was a valued member of the Protrack forum.

In terms of Pro running, Bazza will always be a part of the history of our sport as a winner of the coveted Burnie Gift in 1971, as well as Latrobe and a couple of classic NSW Gifts from the 1960's & 1970's.

From the HeraldSun on 23/05/2015
POULTER. Barry Phillip. 'Bazza P' 16.1.1943 - 16.5.2015 Tragically passed away at home. Dearly loved father of Ann (dec. ) and Sandra. Former husband and dear friend of Fay. The 100 meter Sprinter 'All bets are off'

RIP Bazza.
