Dr Frankenstein could not have come up with a more monstrous list of science fiction times. You have only one thing right. Galic is at the top of the list.
The rest is rubbish. Only two athletes are handicapped to break 12.40secs on current form. Galic is one. The other, Wil Johns.

Fair suck of the sauce bottle Trackstar, chopper did not say what track?
What if there was a 120 set up on the grassy slopes at the gardens near Sidney Myer Music Bowl. I'm sure a few would run these times down that hill? Laughing

Chopper is mearly pointing out the extrapolated times from a 100m. Eg Galic runs 10.50 +0.8 (say 10.54), add on 14m (say 1.4) for the 120m and its 11.94.
Its a decent list for comparison, Especially when you look at athletes who are being handicapped off amatuer performances (ie jack hale). But crazy things happen to the human body at 80m and you're right trackster, times are irrelevant when looking at a longer, grassier, hillier, handicapped race!

I love this time of year when we all jump in with what we think and bounce our opinions off each other.
after the weekends nationals it was interesting to see some runners maybe getting tired or simply running too much
hopefully resting up all this week and coming out fresh and raring to go for stawell

I also like galic off 5.75 ( great mark for a 10.5 runner ) he even gets .75 off johns who is ? 10.7
luke stevens gets .25 off hale being a 10.7 runner to hale 10.5 and better
stevens gives johns 2.5 for being ? .25ish quicker over 200
khan marr couldn't break 11.00 at nationals
williams swain ran 10.46 and gets scratch
davies and carter didn't show much

someone is out there at juicy odds ready to run amok I reckon - just bloody wish I knew who it was haha

Everyone seems to be looking more towards the back to mid markers where the past few years have seen those with 6.5m up to 10m taking home the money. Are we all looking in the wrong half of the draw to find ourselves the finalists and ultimate winner? I don't see any real threats up front but there must be a few runners who have shown potential but possibly not their true form

I think there is a few that have been overlooked based on their form this season. Ware looked good at Bendigo and will be thereabouts on Monday.
Woodrow appears to be ready for another crack.
Dobric has gone about his business quietly this season, just showing enough but looking like he had more.
Dunbar is pretty much a monty to make his first Final.

Looks like there has been a bit of a go on Murray Goodwin. Into $6 favorite on Sportsbet. Could we get our first Stawell Gift winner wearing long skins ??

Goodwin went missing after Ararat where he ran fastest heat and then lost 4 metres in the semi to not make the final. From memory he copped an NAP.

MOSS.....Early money suggests he wont be far away.Scratched more often than he has run in recent 10 meetings.Knows how to win a big one ,so am suggesting theres plenty of Ducks and Drakes getting around.
Steinhauser.....Was only a Bees dick away from making the final in 2009 in good time .( I know its 6 years ago but it shows he can do it at the handicaps ) Older ,Wiser and 2.75 extra will be keeping the younger blokes honest.Running out of chances at his age, so will be primed to give a good account of himself.

Well done Whispers, I too like the south side of the tree and think there may be more to it in the women's as well. A trainer who has been there before and athletes with the marks.

Haha, where do you come up with this stuff Chopper? Half of these guys have never run near those times. Dunbar may have a quick time from 10 years ago to get your 12.1, but I can't find it. The next 3 have all run PB's this season and haven't been good enough in classic finals. None of them even close to the times you calculated. What disclosed form are you looking at? Or are you just trying to take the heat off someone else?
