As a mature age runner with the SAAL, it has been my great pleasure and honour to have Brian Hart yelling and shooting his gun, so many times.

One of my favourite moments was when I stood on the podium at Hectorville next to Brian who had just won the 120m over45s sash.

Today, we were told that Brian was doing his last meet as starter for the SAAL - Brian gave a little speech and teared up, we clapped, then back to business and the yelling and then the bang. After the race, Chief Steward Phil Daws asked me "What was all the clapping about?" and I told him.

Many thanks to Brian for the gift of long service to the sport and for so many encouraging words.

Gratitude and respect.

Thanks mate.
