Well done on the 550 DG. Plenty of seconds when he looks like he should have won. Pretty frustrating to see him run that in the first heat and make the following 5 irrelevant. 1.07.8 is ridiculous!

And also interesting to see CIW give up in his semi. Saving for stawell/ballarat consigns to suit?

Hilly knew girolamo was hiding form but 1.07
He didn't see that coming.

No way was that time correct.
I timed it at 1.08.57 still pretty quick. Couldnt believe it when the time was read out and looked over to where Rex sits to see someone else there doing the time.
Its all down to human intervention and Im guessing the person in charge of the clock may have missed the start slightly.
This is backed up by the fact that the two lads in that heat ran slower in the final where most of the others ran quicker.
DG has been one of the most consistant runners in the league , twice running second to Stenson which is no mean feat and showing his form with a couple of wins.He was tipped to win ,he was the bookies favourite and didnt let anyone down.
Jones didnt let him down either by giving him his usual wind break for the first part of the race and then allowing him that freak inside run in his heat.
I stand by what I have said though and I am sure theres otherS around that take times as well that the 1.07.08 was a bit quicker than it should have been.

Considering it was winner only with next two fastest times you would hope that the timing was correct.

I am not saying that the timekeeper was wrong this time it may be my time
Is there a replay somewhere we can time the race off.
When it comes down to next fastest it shouldnt be left to human intervention.

Rookie Error,

You're another with limited ability to analyse results or understand the landscape in terms of where athletes sit when it comes to major Gifts.

Chris Innes-Wong was genuinely disappointed on missing the Bay Sheffield final. He only just missed after a massive effort in his semi, running 2nd to Matthew Eddy - who had the fastest heat time of 12.38s.

Perhaps another semi, he might have had a chance, but that's the way it goes. It broke a run of 10 consecutive years of Bay Sheffield finalists that I've enjoyed since 2004. So if you think I didn't want Chris in the final, you're a f---en idiot.

His trial form was such I considered he was about a metre out of the Bay. He ran accordingly. I'm disappointed for Chris, but stiff shit.

It's completely ludicrous to suggest an SA athlete would bypass the Bay Sheffield with it's history, prestige & substantially more prize money to 'wait' for Ballarat. To suggest it, i'm not sure if you realise how stupid you look or you were taking the piss, but I suspect the former.

As for Stawell, it is 4 months away, Chris is 28 so the potential improvement required to go better off a lesser mark than in 2014, is probably not there. He has often stated he has a limited lifespan in this sport as he looks to pursue other things. He will try to win what ever he can, he ain't waiting for anything.

And the evolution of the sport means there will be new athletes in the mix & he simply hasn't the time to bypass other good races, for something that is now probably out of reach.

Please don't accuse others of being a cheat, you will be banned.

You might be able to dance around it in other ways, but I won't tolerate straight out unsubstantiated 'cheat' accusations against athletes who are not in a position to defend themselves.

This is not the Albany forum......
