Lucky in order from luckiest - Hicks, Long-Scaffidi, Maguire, Thomas, Wright, Verrall, Richards, Hancock

The rest look about right. Who will be the 1st South Australian home

I know Adelaide has strange and interesting stuff like bodies in the barrel, the family murders, Don Dunstan and safari suits, Southwark beer, Ken Cunningham, frog cakes, etc. BUT Is there anything stranger than a runner getting a 2.75 metre lift after WINNING? And no one gives a shit????? Can the VAL introduce this for Stawell? Imagine how may goers would turn up for Ringwood if they were told a 2.75 lift was on offer if they won the 120? FAAARRRRKKKK! Ringwood 120 sash would be more popular than a Golden Wonka ticket!

You receive a 2m lift on your winning mark for stawell in the 550m. Maybe it's the new in thing?

What recourse is there for guys on 11.0m who are now screwed because of a massive lift for one athlete?
Before Brighton = competitive.
After Brighton = screwed.

Can you pull out and get your money back?

Hysteria over nothing! The Hicks mark is just a mistake or typo

It's not a typo and nor is it a mistake. Hicksy had 11m last year and did not make it through to the final. Since that, he has not recorded a PB or won a race other than the Sacred Heart 70m and 120m last week at Brighton (probably $300 total for both wins). He has been kicking around since the late 90s and never made a Bay final so deserves every inch of the mark. If he makes the final he would be one of the most deserving yet!

Are you kidding?
No doubt hicksy is a fantastic bloke and will certainly be a popular finalist if not winner if that's how it ends up but people pay good money to enter these big races and after his performance at Brighton winning easily from the back mark that really doesn't leave much chance for a lot of other south Aussies. He has gone from starting behind a lot of people to starting at the front!!

A refund would be a popular choice for a lot of people if it were an option racingmania.

Choked on my muesli, reading the paper this morning. Jack Hale running at the Bay Sheffield.

Jack Hale has been allocated 2.75m. Can't wait to see him run against men in a handicapped race for the first time.

Good luck to Hicks, he can only go with what they give him, but its just another odd way SAAL run this comp that lately has me scratching my head each week. Maybe handicaps should be put into and pulled out of a hat much like a sweep? He may well not win but sure has what looks to be an obvious head start.

For service rendered, deserving - yes. But winning a gift before the bay and meets everyone 1.75m or more better off, that can't be justified. Far more deserving if he was on the mark equal to his ability, I say 10/10.25.

How many interstaters make the Bay final? 1, 2 or 3? Seems 3 is the max now days.

For me it's Hale, Dunmall and Camille.

For a smokie I like Wurm. Get the feeling he might have been waiting for this.

Smokie- Wurm?

Didn't he run 14sec at Ararat on the weekend?

Now we have all seen 10m improvements in 1 week- (st.bernands- into Stawell) but asking for 20m improvement over the 120m over 2 weeks - when you throw in the Christmas pudding is just a little bit too much to ask this time!

120m Ararat Gift HEAT 3 Adjustment: -0.1
Place Athlete No Athlete Name H'cap Time Adj Time
1 Kevin BRITTAIN 5.50 13.187 13.187 Completed
2 John HILDITCH 17.50 13.229 13.229 Completed
3 Richard BROWN 10.50 13.349 13.349 Completed
4 Jonathon ROGERS 13.50 13.361 13.361 Completed
5 Nathan DIXON 8.25 13.561 13.561 Completed
6 Jordan KEAST 9.75 13.953 13.953 Completed
7 Ollie WURM 6.75 14.043 14.043 Completed
Scr Robert SPENCER 7.50 Scratched

I agree Oldman. When one considers Brittain was 3rd in the final, Wurm was effectively 8m out of the handicap at Ararat. It would cause a lot of angst among the stewards Evil or Very Mad if he was to run faster than Brittain at the Bay. But I suspect that won't happen. He genuinely appears completely out of form for whatever reason.

Just update the Ollie Wurm profile.

Ollie Wurm 24 (Prahran VIC) 8.00m Robert Stevens
Won the 2010 Burnie Gift (12.50s off 8.0m) and was the 2009 National Under 20 400m champion (PB: 47.62 – 22/2/2009). Ran fastest heat (12.42s off 7.0m) of the 2011 Bay Sheffield before being run out by eventual winner Jordan Caldow. Finished 5th in a Bay Sheffield semi last year (13.41s off 7.50m).This season his form has been ordinary – 4th in a Sandringham 100m heat and was 5th, beaten by 9m in a Northcote 100m Gift heat, 7/12/2014 (11.98s off 5.75m). On Saturday 21/12/2014 he ran 14.04s off 6.75m to finish 8m away in his heat of the Ararat Gift. Hard to consider on his Northcote/Ararat performances.
