PROCLAMATION Park will host professional athletes this week as part of the popular Maroondah Gift.

The 400m race, part of the 33rd annual Ringwood Professional Athletics Club carnival, is expected to attract high-quality athletes from Victoria and interstate.

“Professional athletic carnivals are usually run on grass tracks, such as the famous Stawell Gift at Easter, but to have a first-class track of Olympic-standard at Proclamation Park, entries are expected to have quality,” said club president Brian Morgan.

The main race, sponsored by Maroondah Council and the Maroondah Sports Club, offers entrants the chance to win the $4000 prize. Food and drinks are available on the day, and ground entry costs $5. The carnival commences at noon this Sunday at Proclamation Park, Sylvia Grove, Ringwood.
