Well seeing as how the last couple of weeks on here have been a snoozefest lets see if we can't throw a bit of life to the forum.
40 days till the biggest meet on the SA calendar for athletics!
Surely we are all beginning to have some idea who we think are favourites who are dark horses and who are pretenders so let's have some friendly discussion about it!!
Will chuck out a couple of names for the events I have some knowledge on (pretty minimal knowledge I might add)
I won't go into juniors and past 800m I'm also pretty lost so hopefully a few others will help me out?
Any interstaters looking the goods early on?
120m open-
Tim McGuire- has the runs on the board and seems to have done it without getting out of 2nd gear surely favourite this far out.
Luke Houlihan- hasn't gone unnoticed. Another placing at whyalla on the weekend, last years restricted winner (I think) which tends to lead to bigger and better things!
Never count out the old favourites the like of cibich Watkins and a stawell gift finalist innes wong.
Women's 120m-
Cavouras- has the winning feel appears to have done the work and to me the obvious one.
Steinart- hopefully has just been holding a couple of % back. Looks in good shape has been making finals and placing. Everyone loves seeing the red runner win!!
550m open-
Stenson- geez I hope they give the fella something even remotely competitive because if they do he will be there at the end flying down the home straight! Needs to run pre bay to get a feel for the track.
Girolamo- perhaps his breakthrough win for the season will be the big one? Has form has the mark.
800m open-
Can I just say the same 2 guys as above?
If one of them did a double I wouldn't be surprised.
