Has anyone else seen the first Draft of the Athleticsa season 2014/15.
CLASH ,State Champs with Loxton ???????
Surely someone at Athleticssa knows when Loxton is held, or have I got it wrong.

What are everyone going to choose , a nice pay packet or state medal.

Wonderful work Whispers.

Where would we wander, without Whispers's warnings when we work with wasteful wrong way wilfulness ?

Good point Whispers. It looks like ASA'a track and field committee don't have any reps with pro running affiliation.
If ASA have any common sense they will put the state champs either side of the Adelaide Track Classic which is on Sat 14 feb.
Might encourage interstate athletes to come here for the week.

The calendar from Athleticssa is only Draft 1 so lets hope commonsense prevails .

Problem for ASA is AA have scheduled a major interstate track meet either side of the Adelaide Track Classic - Canberra on the 7th Feb & Perth on the 21st Feb. It may well be the last weekend in February is the only date available.

Although.....the number of SA athletes who will be involved in a meet such as Canberra or Perth would be probably 3 or 4 at most. So having the SA state champs on the same weekend as say Canberra is unlikely to have a major impact on the depth & quality of athletes competing in the SA state championships.

In terms of 'numbers', my view would be the SA state champs should be conducted on the first week in February (against Canberra TC) rather than against Loxton. Far more athletes are likely to be affected by the Loxton clash.

2014/15 Summer Season Australian Championship and Tour Dates listed below:

2014-2015 Australian Championship Schedule
5-7 December – Australian All-Schools Championships, Adelaide (SA)
8 December – Australian Schools Knock-Out, Adelaide (SA)
14 December – Australian 50km Race Walking Championships, Melbourne (Vic)
8 February – IAAF World Cross-Country Championships Selection Trial, Canberra (ACT)
11-15 March – Australian Junior Athletics Championships, Sydney (NSW)
26-29 March – 93rd Australian Athletics Championships, Brisbane (Qld)

2014-2015 Australian Athletics Tour
11 December – Zatopek:10 (Australian 10,000m Championship), Melbourne (Vic)
24 January – Briggs Athletics Classic, Hobart (TAS)
31 January – Hunter Track Classic, Newcastle (NSW)

14 February – Adelaide Track Classic, Adelaide (SA)
21 February – Perth Track Classic, Perth (WA)

Common sense rarely prevails. Heads up Whispers, lookout for the TTG meet being on the 14th of Feb, Saturday night, with Hectorville being moved to the 2nd Sat or Sun? of January.

Instead of having 5 meets in November they should take away the meet that clashes with Whyalla and hold it at the end of March.
That would encourage more people to make the trip up to Whyalla because atm it's a choice of either one or the other.
It's the same with Loxton clashing with the State Champs.
Regional pro meets are some of the biggest events on the SAAL calender so Athletics SA should take that into recognition.
