Sally Pearson clocks impressive 100m hurdles time in last home run ahead of European campaign

Damien Stannard
The Courier-Mail
May 17, 2014

SALLY Pearson’s coaching switch seems to be working wonders after she clocked one of her fastest ever pre-Games times at the Gold Coast.

Less than a 100 spectators and only two rivals flanked Pearson for her last dash on home soil before beginning her European campaign.

Lack of competition did not bother the gold medallist, who raced to victory in the 100m hurdles in 12.77secs.

It does not stack up against her 12.28 personal best, but given the low-key setting, Pearson and coach Antony Drinkwater-Newman were delighted.

The Queenslander will defend her Commonwealth title in July but her Diamond League campaign starts on June 5 in Rome.

Coaching switch working wonders because of a 12.77? Excuse me?

12.77 is pedestrian for Sally and is merely an indication that she should be competitive in Europe.

So sorry Mr Stannard but........Sally was Commonwealth, Olympic & World Champion under her previous coach - she was "working wonder's" well before the coaching switch.
