betting on gift,i contacted 3 different betting organisations in the last month as to when betting would open .they all indicated in the week leading up to event. today being Wednesday I wonder now if their is any restriction on when betting may be started, maybe on night of soiree at waterside for any fortunate enough to be in Melbourne.
as late as yesterday I emailed tab .no response
maybe they were stung badly last year and don't like other agency's gazumping market,my apology to rookie if any error in syntax. bp

And isn't the betting on already, I've already seen a couple crunched early, although I wouldn't imagine it would take much money to cause a turn in this early

Biggest surprise is Max Punchihewa, one start at Maribyrnong. Got smashed off 6m - 14.2secs! Very early backed into 10-1, on 2nd line of betting.

Ware 20's into $7.50.

7-1 Carty-Cowling. No surprise obvious favorite.
7-1 Jamieson. Again no surprise.

3 more @ 7's after some decent cracks.

Big mover is Versace 33's into 18's now at 7's equal 2nd favourite.

Adams backed in from 10's to 7's.
Dunmall 10's to 7's.

A McCabe from 40-1 into 18's.

Eschebach from 40-1 into 18's.

Spencer held steady at 20-1

I can only assume Iain Douglas is a confirmed scratching. I cannot find his name on the TAB betting page.

Might save a few people sitting on the refresh button. The TAB are intending to put up their first Stawell Gift market at 10am Thursday. It is highly unlikely (100/1) that it will be any earlier.
There is a quite a variation in the market that will go up tomorrow to the ones presently on Sportsbet and IAS ( those two are the same company).

It's all over the shop the betting!! Kardakovski $21 , I wouldn't back him at $2000/1 same as Punchihewa at $40 should be "Write your own ticket" Big Gus was too good to pass up at the $13

Who would have though........bazzap on the money for a change!
Betfair clearly offering best odds, furthermore you can actually get a decent bet on!
Unlike Sportsbet, Centrebet & Tab Sportsbet all offering unders, slicing odds at drop of a hat, or only letting punters on for limited takeout?
I've never so little action, punters can't be serious, bring back the good old days!
