2014 AUSTRALIA POST STAWELL GIFT TO BE BROADCAST ACROSS TWO CHANNELS

For the first time in the history of the Australia Post Stawell Gift, the event will be televised across two channels, with both ONE and Fox Sports broadcasting Australia’s greatest professional footrace into homes around the nation.

The new partnership will see ONE deliver three hours of live race coverage from midday (AET) on Easter Monday, including the 133rd running of the Australia Post Stawell Gift Final.

Fox Sports will follow the live coverage with a one-hour highlights package at 10.30pm (AET) that evening, allowing those returning from a weekend away to catch all the action.

The ONE live broadcast will be anchored by one of the most respected voices in Australian sport, with Peter Donegan returning for his 18th Australia Post Stawell Gift. He will be joined by 1993 winner and sports broadcaster, Jason Richardson, and three-time Olympian and current Australian record-holder in the 200m, Melinda Gainsford-Taylor, who will provide their expert insight and analysis for viewers around the nation.

Is that the same Jason Richardson who declared on radio a few years ago that only reason he would go to Stawell at Easter time was for the Cup?

Wonder what the reason for the change is???

Yes, Same J Richardson who couldn't give a shit about the sport unless there's $$ in it fot him. Sorry what VAL meets has he been to this year?
He couldn't name one current Stawell Gift runner.

I somehow recall Foxtel showed a replay of the Stawell Gift a few days (week?) after the event a couple of years ago.

As for the commentators. Following the death of Chris Perry it was always going to be a tough job filling Chris's shoes. Richardson will be OK. Despite having little to do with the sport now days, he is an accomplished performer on TVN.

Pete Donovan is an outstanding athletics race caller and will continue to do a great job.

Melinda Gainsford has been outstanding as an athletics commentator this summer. She is well acquainted with many of the class athletes running at Stawell.
