Greg must say I am extremely disappointed in the change of scheduling from previous years for the vets races. E.g if a vet makes the 120m final he/she only has ten minutes until till the start of the 400m heats. In previous years there was around two hours break between the 120m final and 400m front markers so plenty of time. Another thing is that this change has only been implemented in the past few days - well after athletes such as myself have paid up for both events in the belief that that there was plenty of time between both events - please explain...

Hitman17- it's a massive event, a huge couple of days of racing, don't bag floater over a scheduling issue, I'm sure you understand how hard it would be to put together this massive event. Given all the racing it's a bit like stawell champ, pick the event your targeting and just run that, if it's the 400m fronties don't run the 120m, it's ok running every event in the smaller meetings for training, but when the big ones comes around just pick one, SURELY your coach has told you that? It's better to win 1 event, than try and win two and win none, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush!

Old man I'm not bagging Greg, it's the principle. I entered both events on the belief that there was plenty of time between the two - as per the original draft. If they wanted to change no probs, but do so BEFORE the athlete pays for both. You shouldn't change the goal posts after entries close - pretty simple philosophy i would have thought.

Hitman17 thank you for your input. The first draft was always subject to change and since it was first published Ballarat has included two new races. In previous years runners have voiced concerns that there was too much time between heats and finals! The Ballarat Athletic Club works very hard to deliver a great gift and this year's program has required much maneuvering to try and deliver a program that suits everyone. Unfortunately due to time constraints there will always be disappointment. We do have a 300m Vets race on Saturday to accommodate vets and women! If a runner is lucky enough to make the 120m vets final there is still the opportunity to run the 400m BM. However the timetable is still subject to change until printed! We will revisit the timetable over the weekend and see what we can do perhaps change the 400FM heats to after the 400BM heats.

Thanks mate, if you do move the fronties after the backies I reckon that would do the trick! Thanks for getting on as well and explaining things. This gift is in good hands -should be a ripping two days of racing.

With all due to respect to those great companies who get on board to sponsor VAL events, this Forum has never served as a billboard or a tool by which to bombard athletes with sponsors names.

Historically, it has been used to share valuable event-specific information about races, and to exchange more than a little banter.

My concern is that if every carnival takes to posting links to all of their sponsors here, it will clog this place up.

A forum by it's very nature is a place for discussion, not hawking.

I hear you.. Dizzy runner... as like all volunteers on a VAL Club I, like everyone else on our Committee, do our very utmost to promote the sport in general and give all athletes and valued sponsors the very best that we can offer.. I am extremely passionate about our awesome Ballarat Athletic Club and what we offer at our Carnival.. and feel honoured to be able to contribute.. maybe Youngy summed it up nicely when he said...

Great work by the Ballarat Athletic Club & thanks to Floater for the updates.

The number of sponsors Ballarat keeps attracting is a testament to the hard work & credibility of the Ballarat AC.

By the way mentioning the sponsors on Protrack at the moment is one way if getting very good exposure for them.

On Nov 25, we had 14,300 hits; 30 days later that has risen to over 29,300 - >15,000 hits more.

Averaging just over 500 hits per day.

12 sponsors make our sport go round. on Sun Feb 02, 2014 10:13 pm

With all due respect, it is sponsors that make this sport go around, and this forum is for promoting our sport and therefore it is appropriate that sponsors are mentioned here. Ever race requires a sponsor and the hard working BAC committee should be praised for continuing to get and promoting sponsors. And every clubman who gets our there and raises money for this sport should be thanked and not chastised for promoting sponsors.
