Everyones entitled to an opinion ,whether its right or wrong
Three reasons why Cibich cant/wont win at Marion are

1. Hes been pulled .5 for his placing at the Bay
2.Camden athletes have a habit of waiting an extra week so as to win at their home meeting
3.Loxton $$$$

Take your pick as to which one it is.

So Whispers, you are beating around the bush, but you have answered my question.
We can assume you are assuming he won't run at Marion.

I'm with you MM.

If James Cibich drops his blocks in the Marion Gift he wins by 2m plus.

Take into account that of the 4 SA Bay Sheffield finalists Tjimarri Sanderson-Milera & David Gross are not entered. Clay Watkins (back 1.0m) finished nearly 3m away from Cibich (back 0.50m) and meets him 0.50m worse off.

The other SA athletes who went OK in the Bay Sheffield semis but didn't make the final such as Dylan Hicks (back 2.75), Jordan Tronnolone (back 1.50), Damian Tohl (back 1.50) & Neil Thomas (back 1.25) all meet Cibich worse off.

Based on the Bay Sheffield & PreBay results this is a lopsided Gift as I've seen in the SAAL for a long time.

So based on that, I doubt Cibich will run the Gift. He simply enjoys too much of an advantage over the field. My guess is he will wait til Loxton. If he shows his Bay Sheff running, he can't get beat (unless there's a dramatic change up in the current 120m landscape).

He should run the Marion 300m, which again, based on exposed form, probably wins, but it will be more of a contest.

It'd be good to see JC have a win, but am I right in saying that JC has been in almost every 70m and 120m open final since Loxton last year and not won any of them? I'm not a religious person but maybe JC needs to send a message to JC's heavenly father to get him over the line.  Very Happy

Handicaps for Marion Under 14/s 300M can someone confirm that these are correct!

Good pick up GT
Under 17 550m bay winner off 60 in a 300m under 14 must be a mistake
Should be the back marker.

I dont tip on under age events but I reckon with seasonal bests of 100m..12.38, 200m...24.06, 400m..53.98 I reckon that lad would have to be right in this event up to his ears Laughing

He ran the fastest 120m time for the day in his heat so we can rule out number one
So which one of the other points is it , is it point 2 or point 3

Wind the clock back to Brighton i THINK and we saw such an hilarious break it was comical by Gross , but he went back a metre and didnt feature in the placings, perhaps Cibich should have taken a leaf out of Grosses book as what happened at Marion was embarrassing.

Rookie Error

Fair old stitch up Of Cibich on here. Have the rules been relaxed with regards to discussing specific runners, their handicaps, and their expected performances? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

FTR -Hadn't put his runners on since the bay, runs .1 slower then his heat time and gets pulled a metre. If .1 of second over 113.5 metres is 'inconsistent performances' well i'll eat my hat.

Rookie get serious.
The whole world was talking about the 120m at Marion, handicappers, stewards, everyone. Long before it became a subject on here. I bet the penalty was decided on Saturday.
The only person who has stitched up Cibich is his coach for letting him run like that. The video footage is not good.
He was warned what would happen if he repeated the Pre bay effort of running the fastest heat and not repeating it in a final.
He should not have run the Marion Gift, simple as that.

The facts are simple if you dont want to win you break ,which we all saw at Brighton , the break was so bad the athlete was almost in the previous race, then finished last NO PENALTY.
All I can say that theres quite a few runners over several distances that must be looking at the Penalty dished out to Cibich and having quite a chuckle and thinking how fortunate they have been.

Whispers, I am the last person to defend David Gross. (I thought his behaviour just before the Bay Sheffield final was self indulgent and disrespectful to the other competitors and Terry McAulliffe) but I think you are barking up the wrong tree about the Brighton 70m.

Gross's break in the final of the Brighton 70m was hardly deliberate; nothing out of the ordinary for someone who has broken. Appeared to me to be a simple lack of concentration. If anything, it was possibly a vain attempt to obtain an advantage over Tim McGuire.

Besides, why he would deliberately break in order not to win, doesn't make sense. Tim McGuire had everyone covered regardless of whether Gross broke or not. Gross couldn't beat McGuire at the marks. All the break did was prevent Gross from making the dais.

I've seen the odd athlete deliberately break and every occasion it's a hell of a lot obvious than what Gross did.
