Good news, everyone!

The Ballarat Athletic Club has announced that it will be doubling the prize money for the 2014 Women’s 120 Metres Gift. President, Shane Woodrow said “In recent years the growth in women’s participation on the Victorian Athletic League circuit has been very encouraging. The Ballarat Athletic Club reviewed the prize money offered for the women’s gift and believed that the move will be a positive one to support women’s athletics at the 2014 PPT Ballarat Gift Carnival.”

The prize money will be $5000 and be sponsored by Mars Confectionary Australia with the support of the City of Ballarat. This brings the Ballarat Women’s Gift to the forefront of prize money on offer, comparable to other professional athletic events across the nation. “The PPT Ballarat Gift Carnival has grown in stature over the years and is seen as one of the premier athletic carnivals conducted in Australia. It was important for the Ballarat Athletic Club to keep the Women’s Gift as one of the sort after events on its program. We trust that the decision to support this event financially will see some of the Australia’s elite female athletes enter this event” Mr Woodrow said.

This year’s PPT Ballarat Gift Carnival will be run at the Eastern Oval on February 8 and 9, 2014. The heats of both the Women’s and Men’s Gift will conducted on Saturday the 8th with the semi-finals and final conducted on Sunday the 9th.
