WOMEN'S Australian running champion Melissa Breen and Olympian Brendan Cole will headline the St Albans Gift this weekend.

Breen has a personal best time of 11.25 for the 100m, and will run off scratch in the women's 120m race.

The St Albans Sports Club Gift program of events starts at 3.30pm on Saturday, finishing at 10pm.

Organisers said they had drawn about 600 entries for a variety of races ranging from 70m to 1600m.

Breen, who ran for Australia at the 2012 London Olympics, will run a coaching clinic for junior athletes before competing in both the women's and the men's gifts.

The organisers said she would be given a handicap of some form in the men's race.

Cole is better known for being a 400m runner and hurdler, but is set to attempt the 120m gift in a bid to win the prizemoney.

The main event has attracted 72 entrants, with heats starting at 6.30pm.

The gift will be held at Kings Park Reserve on Gillespie Rd in St Albans.

Entry is free, with activities provided for children.

No BYO alcohol, parking is $2, programs are also $2. Details: val.org.au
