I'd go with that Stokesy, the track is fast and on the outer might have a slight advantage with Biggs strength getting him over the line 1st, I'd reverse the order 1) Biggs, 2) CZ and 3rd ST

Biggsy by five metres, then Jefferies then another 5m to the rest in the final.

Well done Biggsy and well done over35er picking Biggsy for the win.

Maybe not so well done for the SAAL handicapping department ... after the local victory and close finish in the over35s 120m at the Bay, our expectations are raised pretty high.

Just looking at the 800m times .they look pretty slow, reports Im getting is that it was cold ,WET and windy............on a 38 degree day.
I think my sources must have had one to many down at the local ,Stokesy, whats the story.

Whispers, it was a day of climate contrasts and comedy.

The day started in the windy warm sunny but not hot afternoon with no sign of rain.

When I ran my heat at 730pm, the sun was still up and the wind was mild with no sign of rain.

When the last hour of racing began, things changed dramatically.

Was it climate change? No, I do not think so.

Was it a man made thing? Yes, I think it was.

Did we do what we could to stop the sudden flooding isolated rain patches? Yes we did.

The 200m races were okay, with the backmarkers needing to watch out for a spray on their backs at the start.

The sprinkler system was set so that the far side was first, away from the crowds and finishing straight.

Would the sprinklers on the near side start and soak everyone?

Would there be a water jump in the 800m in the back straight?

Oh it was fun for a few minutes.

Buckets were fetched along with 5 and 10 kilo weights - a bucket was placed over the sprinkler head, then a weight placed on top, and a 20m sprinkler flow became a localised flooding event. Oh joy.

The 800m was delayed until after the plumber from the council came and turned off the sprinklers.

Probably a wet patch or two on the back straight, despite noble work by over35er with a broom (like I saw on the tennis on TV once).

It was a circus.

And there was some great racing and some charmed commentary by Tim.

Ah, the SAAL.

Hey Whispers, I have a pic of the 550m Novice, unfortunately you cant see "Whispers" on it even when zoomed up. If you get a hold of your mate Mick Buckler he might give you a copy of his pic as he was much closer to dias  Wink

Sorry 0ver35er ,like I said I had a double booking for Sat night and couldnt make it there for the presentation of the sash, MAYBE next year.
Good to see it go to Cory Watkins who is having a pretty good season.

Yep Corey Watkins scored another fine win.

And Clay and Bryce are racing well this season, with Clay in the Bay Sheff final and Bryce winning a big Bay sash.

So who is the championest stud ever in the history of the SAAL?

Three cheers for the mighty Mick.
