For me one of the disappointments of the carnival was Brusnhan. Off that mark and from what he acheived last year at the Bay he hasnt progressed in Pro running.
For as long as he stays training with a bunch of fellow school kids and with a coach with no real credentials he will stay the same...as soon as he realises there no real future with his present coach.

Sadly it's 2014 now and he's still with the same coach and your prediction has eventuated. A lot of people would love to have talent like that (21.69 200m at 17 years old) but he seems to be wasting it away.

Brushnahan should be in low 10s .

No shame in moving on for coach or athlete.
Nothing wrong in seeking a different opinion.
For as long as I have watched Brussnahan compete, he has had a dodgy start ,often false starting, and prone to soft tissue injuries.
As time as progressed ,his starts havent and his management of soft tissue injuries continues to be ordinary.

Interestingly back in 2009 Two of South Aussies best youngsters and up and coming sprinters ran really well at the Bay Sheff

Brushnahan 7.00m 12.678
Saliu 7.50 12.272

One athlete has bounced from coach to coach ,the other has stayed with the same one.
Obviously some need a change and others dont ,real Catch 22

Yeah I guess that's the case across the board. You look at the top 10 sprinters in South Australia and most of them seem to have plateued around the high 10s for 100m.
We seem to have the talent in juniors but after juniors they seem to just quit or stagnate. I know the faster you are the harder it is to improve but you'd think we'd have more sprinters that are running mid 10s given their potential in juniors.
I'm sure everybody could think of at least half a dozen athletes where a few years ago they thought, 'gee x is going to do big things', yet years later x hasn't done anything.

Road Runner we haven't had too much talent coming through. Problem is the good talent we do see in juniors are ending up in the wrong hands.
Exhibit A: M Brusnahan. No improvement since 2010 when he was 16. 2014 now 20 and PBs are 4 years old.

I was looking at an old spread-sheet back from the 2009-2010 season and noticed this result. Brusnahan gave Caldow a 2.50m start and beat him in the Bay Sheffield U/20 final. Brusnahan and Caldow were 16 at the time. The days of Brusnahan giving Caldow a start and a beating are long gone....

27/12/2009 Bay Sheffield 120m U/20's Brusnahan Michael 4.00 F 1 12.950 $250.00
27/12/2009 Bay Sheffield 120m U/20's Batley Nathan 8.50 F 2 12.961 $80.00
27/12/2009 Bay Sheffield 120m U/20's Caldow Jordan 6.50 F 3 12.968 $60.00
27/12/2009 Bay Sheffield 120m U/20's O'Loughlin Trent 7.50 F 4 13.003 $30.00
27/12/2009 Bay Sheffield 120m U/20's Stangewitz Jake 8.50 F 5 13.164 $20.00
27/12/2009 Bay Sheffield 120m U/20's Gibbs Natalie 19.00 F 6 13.223 $20.00
27/12/2009 Bay Sheffield 120m U/20's Menz Simon 4.50 F 7 13.378 $10.00
27/12/2009 Bay Sheffield 120m U/20's Pallotta Steven 4.00 F 8 13.423 $10.00

No doubt.
Looking at Brusnahan in his first race for the 13/14 season he ran 10.86w and 21.97 for the 200m in October. By the end of the season he didn't come close to touching that 100m time and he managed to hit a 21.91 in mid January.
But what really strikes out about the times his the 300m. The general rule of thumb is that if somebody is in shape they should be hitting their 200m plus 13 seconds for the 300.
So if Brusnahan was in shape he should be hitting 35 seconds for the 300m but instead his 300m was 37 seconds. Keep in mind Brusnahan is a runner that showed great natural speed endurance as his best 200m is 21.69, whilst his best 100m is 10.94.
So if an athlete is rocking up to race each week and has natural speed endurance, but isn't improving their speed and are completley out of shape what is he doing in training!?
"Insanity- Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results".

Edit- I wish I had data on the years between 2010 to 2014 so I could analyse if there were any trends e.g he peaks early.
If that's the case the coach should be asking himself why does he peak early? What type of conditioning/work is he doing in the off-season, which brings about that improvement. Why does it drop off? Is he doing generic training with a group or does he have an individualisedised program?
Obviously individual responsibilty also comes into play with motivation, nutrition and recovery but I just can't help but agree with racingmania.

[quote="youngy"]G'day 2011 Tip,.

Brusnahan is not running as well as he was a few weeks ago, but his form slump won't last too long.

Whispers with tongue in cheek, thinks that the form slump is on going and unless he hops the fence theres no end in sight.
