Lithgow Flash Gift Media Release
via NSWAL Website

New date for the Lithgow Flash Gift Carnival.

Saturday November 30 is the new date for the running of the 2013 Lithgow Flash® Carnival after being
postponed due to adverse weather in February.

“After the disappointment of having to postpone the Lithgow Flash® Carnival in February, I’m pleased to
advise the carnival will be held on the 30th of November at the Tony Luchetti Sportsground” said Lithgow
City Council Mayor, Maree Statham “The new date fits in well with the NSW Athletic League calendar with
the Queanbeyan Gift Carnival scheduled for the preceding weekend. Having the two richest carnivals on the
NSW Athletic League calendar held a week apart, we are expecting to attract the best sprinters from across
Australia.”

Lithgow Flash® Gift Chairman and Deputy Mayor, Councillor Ray Thompson said “The new date for the
Lithgow Flash® Carnival will be at the start of the Australian athletics season with the top Australian athletes
returning from the World Championships in Russia. Regular Lithgow Flash® Gift competitor Melissa Breen is
in a good position to be selected for the Australian team after recording an A-qualifying time earlier this year.
The Lithgow Flash® Carnival will see the best of the best sprinters here in Lithgow in November.”

The 2013 Lithgow Flash® Carnival has been well supported by local businesses including Centennial Coal,
Coal Services, Delta Electricity, Henry Plant and Equipment Hire and Lithgow City Council. For the third year
in a row the Lithgow Flash® Carnival has been supported by Destination NSW with their Regional Flagship
Events program.

Other local businesses have also supported the carnival including Regency Jewelers, C & W Printing,
Lithgow Kids Club, Mountain High Conveyancing, Video Ezy, Anytime Fitness, Lithgow Valley Springs, 2LT,
Move FM, imag magazine and Mountain Sports.

Providing a range of programs celebrating the cultural diversify and rich heritage of our local government
area by identifying and supporting the delivery of a diverse range of quality festivals and events is a part of
Council’s strategy to Care for our Community in the Community Strategic Plan 2025.
