Gay's prediction for 2011
- more sub-10 sprinters in one year than ever before

- IAAF Online Diaries
16 December 2010

In his final IAAF Online Diary of 2010, Samsung Diamond League Ambassador Tyson Gay catches us up on his training and makes a few predictions for 2011.

“Hello From Florida,

“Christmas is coming soon and it really feels like it here in Florida. The weather has been very cold compared to what we are used to here. People in Florida don’t like cold but it’s no big problem for me.

“We aren’t running fast yet so a little cold, and a little wind and even a little wet weather isn’t so bad. Makes us tougher as we do the longer, slower work that most sprinters do at this point of the year.

“We’ve got a good group of athletes here in Clermont this year, everyone is healthy and pushing each other to work harder than before. I am already thinking about next summer. I don’t know my racing schedule just yet so for now, it is only about working hard here in Clermont.

“I will sneak away for a few days over the holidays and head back to Kentucky to see my family. Then back to the track, hills and weight room.

“Since January 1st is so close, I figured I would finish my last diary of 2010 by thinking about next year. Here is what I think...

“In 2011...
“-- More men will run sub 10 seconds in the 100m and sub 20 seconds in the 200m than ever before in one year...

“-- Arkansas will beat Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl (this is American College Football for those non-USA readers).

“-- We will get snow here in Florida before the end of the winter (it is definitely cold enough).

“Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

“Talk to ya in 2011.
Tyson
