1 Stawell Gift semi predictions on Mon Apr 01, 2013 8:11 am

Stawell Gift draw is bizarre. Semi 4 sees Mitch Williams-Swain against Isaac Dunmall. Swain is fastest up, Dunmall 3rd fastest.

Shame one of the three fastest is going to get knocked out.

First semi is a shoe-in for Jackson. Has a metre on the field. Scarff & Camille for 2nd, 3rd.

Second semi should be close between Stubbs & Tiu. Ed Ware for 3rd.

Third semi is very soft. Woodrow v Eschebach, the rest will be making up the numbers. Woodrow should just win.

Fourth semi is the BIG one. Favourite v 3rd favourite. Dunmall smashed the 70 yesterday. He has a 6m start on MWS. Might be enough. The loser could end up with the 2nd fastest semi time. Shouldn't happen, Dunmall should be in the 5th.

Fifth semi has been set up for Josh Ross. Weaver ran 12.18 making him the best qualifier but only 0.01 faster than Coote. After umpiring on Thursday, Coote will be fresher now. I pick Coote from Weaver & Gamble who could cause an upset.

Sixth semi is set for Powell, if he runs. He might be a legend of sprinting, but he has a history of low tolerance to pain. If he runs & forgets about any leg issues, he will win the semi. If not, Robinson looks the man with Boudrie the danger.

Final prediction
Stubbs 5.25
Robinson 7.25
Dunmall 10.50
Coote 11.00
Jackson 11.75
Woodrow 12.00

This semi draw is a joke. Just shows it doesn't matter what you run in your heat. If certain people what you into the final they will set it up for you. Seems like a popularity contest rather than a running race. Evil or Very Mad
