A 3-1 favourite in a field of 154, five days out?
Every1 else in double figures?
Bookies have just about made Powell a certainty.
Doesn't look that open!!!!

the pool for the stawell gift will be very small early on so i assume anything above a $20 bet on someone paying over $15 or so is going to cause a big drop in odds

Biggie heard a rumour that a NSW raider between the 7m - 9m mark was highly fancied.
Just didnt know which one. $101 to $12's is a big drop

Big Flucs for Shaun Fletcher

$101 into $12 back out $101

He was the market mover but suddenly the money had gone for him....
Think there is some issues with the market early on my friends.
Williams-swain back $41 into $6.50 back out to $11...

$15s is great odds for the lad who has come good right at the perfect time, couldn't win a $500 race at ringwood, now is going to run 11.7 at stawell, brilliant coaching #pulledthewooloverstewardseyes

Mate they have alot of staff employed. They will have someone watching all markets and they don't want to get hurt. Early on they will be super cautious

Last year i got the tomwaterhouse market within minutes,
They had khan marr at $51, so i put $200 on. It only accepted $10 worth then slashed the odds to $31. I went again and then the market was suspended!

meatpie i am an advocate for betfair.com the odds are shown and to what amount you can put on if you wanted say 200 @ 51 put that on list if some one thinks that is worth risk the bet will go through
otherwise u have to wait ,as far as betting stategy
you would have beenbetter with mammoth???bookie
to put a smaller amount at first, waterhouse are notorious for not accepting bets if u win a lot
i am not in the lot of winning much

Has Ed Ware been backed? Must be a huge chance.
made the Bay final off 8 last year. has all the SA boys beat.

Ed Ware is off the same mark as when he ran 2nd on 2011. Ran about 12.2 from memory. Give the entire field is out 2m he would have to have found 1.5-2.0m from that run which is a lot to find.

I understand he made Bay final off 8m last year but with no disrespect to Bay Sheffield, it is far from the quality of a Stawell gift final. Ed Ware came last in the final. And when you consider the lift the field has got he is off the equivalent of 8m so the same as Bay last year.

You have to keep in mind what the relative mark is after the field is lifted.

Ware now outright third pick at $8.
Williams-Swain $13. Same as Coote.
Something wrong when past fialists are better off than the rest.

Racingmania, don't let the facts get in the way of your theory or statement that Ware, Williams-Swain and Coote are better off than the rest?

If you'd done some detailed comparison, instead of just looking at the odds and making blanket statements, you'd note that Ware is off 10.25m which is same mark he had when 2nd, Williams-Swain is off 4.50m which is 2m less than the 6.50m which we won off, whilst Coote has 11.00m which is same mark as he had when 3rd last year.

Given that field was lifted 1m last year for Frater and 1.75m this year for Powell, the facts of the matter are that neither Ware, Williams-Swain or Coote are better off than the rest, in fact they'd be meeting the rest at least 0.75m worse off at a minimum.

So either all 3 are false odds and no chance given that they meet the rest worse off, or maybe they've all trained hard and improved the required yards to be competitive once again?

Who knows, I guess we'll all find out on the weekend!?!
