The bloke responsible for the YouTube videos from Bendigo - VAL athlete Greg Hilson, is honoured in this tribute that appeared in the Bendigo Advertiser.

Sport volunteer is a true asset to the community

Bendigo Advertiser,
March 14, 2013.

While outlining the volunteer work currently being done by Greg Hilson, the article did not convey the determination, passion and commitment to the development and competition of athletics, and his depth of involvement for more than 30 years.

Greg served a long-term presidency and in press correspondent roles at South Bendigo Athletic club, where he is an active committee member and president of local controlling body, Athletics Bendigo.

He was a track and field referee, race commentator, feature event sponsor, organiser, coordinator and official. His service covered both summer and winter seasons.

He did grass track lane marking and cross country course marking. He achieved all that and more while conducting the Hilson Builders business, raising a family and always in a polite, courteous and pleasant manner.

Greg Hilson is more than a volunteer to the community; he is a quality administrator and an asset to the community. To know him is a privilege.

His contribution to athletics is generous and unselfish, he is a gentleman.

Become involved in athletics, meet the man, experience the experience and how to get the most out of your recreational activity.

Greg Hilson I salute you.

Ronald Nancarrow,
